My team and I had been informed not even ten minutes earlier of a suspected Al-Qaeda cell leader living in our sector. With this type of information you must act swiftly, if you wish to capture or kill the target.
As we slowly moved into the staging position of our makeshift raid, our point man Cason had observed movement on the rooftop overlooking the intersection of our suspected cell leaders home. Just as soon as the words came out of his mouth “twelve O’clock, fifty meters, second house rooftop”, we were under fire. Two men on the rooftop and one in the adjacent building window were meaning to end our lives. The streets before us had come alive. As the rounds impacted all around us Cason, Mooney and I ran for our lives, for cover twenty meters ahead behind a two meter high stone wall. Dunn, Lukasik, and Arzate fell back for cover of their own, shooting as they moved into position to cover our advancement. As we ran for cover the man in front of me, Mooney, was shot through his thigh. Causing him to fall face first into the dirty sand covered streets. As I quickly closed the gap the gap between us, I grabbed his back collar on his vest and pulled him the next five meters to cover, not safety.
We were in for the fight for our lives; Cason was returning fire as I had reached the wall with Mooney in tow. With the other three behind us returning fire and calling for back up. I helped Mooney patch up his thigh with an Israeli bandage and tourniquet. It had stopped the bleeding, but it had done nothing for the pain. With Mooney’s bleeding stopped he sat on the dirty ground and pulled security for our right and left flanks. With that disaster averted, I contacted Dunn “Mooney’s been shot, call it in”.
As soon as the message was relayed, I jumped into the fight. Round after round impacted off the hard stone wall, only allowing us to return fire for the briefest of moments. As the engagement proceeded on, Dunn had somehow gotten a hold of two Apache Helicopters on the emergency frequency. Within seconds of the birds flying over head and coming to our aid, they opened up with their twin twenty-five millimeter canons and hellfire missiles. The noise of the explosions was deafening. After two runs on the buildings, there was nothing left to be heard from the enemy. The buildings had holes through them like Swiss cheese, and the roofs had all been decimated by the hellfire missiles.
With the crisis under control, Cason and I turned out attention to an agonizing Mooney. I contacted Dunn “Where are the docs”? Within seconds of finishing our conversation I heard the familiar sound of and American diesel inching closer. We helped Mooney to his feet, just as Dunn, Lukasik and Arzate came into our view. Relieved to see the others not hurt was a huge relief. We all loaded Mooney into the vehicle, and watched them pull away. We turned around and walked silently back to our staging area. Not a word was spoken as we loaded up and returned home, to do it again in the morning.

I enjoy being outdoors, I have a love hate relationship for running, and I love working out. Fitness and a healthy lifestyle are very important to me. I find myself sometimes late at night going for a walk just to clear my head. I moved to Phoenix a little over 5 years ago from Omaha and eventually (2-5 yrs realistically) I'll actually be here full time but I travel a lot for work. It seems a bit obvious, but in order to manage a construction project, one must actually be at the project. For the next year or so that means I'll work in Alberta (Yes, that's in Canada) for 2 weeks and then be home for a week and repeat.
I love the job, the travel and the regular change of scenery, but it does make meeting new people a bit difficult.
At work, planning and scheduling is a huge part of what I do. I'm pretty good at it but as a result, I try not to plan or schedule my time off unnecessarily. I prefer my recreational activities to be a bit more laid back and spontaneous.
Outside work, I am generally either decompressing with friends/family or pursuing whatever new activity I've decided sounds fun. I'm a big fan of snowboarding, wakeboarding, mtn. biking, motorcycles/dirt bikes, old muscle cars, stand-up comedy, bar hopping, darts, Beer Olympics, guns, single malt scotch, steak... (Hopefully you have notice the theme, or lack thereof by now.) I tend to be up for just about anything.
Skydiving was the most recent infatuation. I plan to get certified this year so I can do that more, but without the other dude strapped to by back. I was thinking rock climbing would be next but someone recently suggested hang-gliding which sounds fun too, so we'll see. I generally go with whatever's convenient and for the first time since I moved to AZ, petty much everything from Alberta to Phoenix now falls into that category so if you have any suggestions feel free to send them my way.
I am not 5' 10". I only mention it because that seems to be a big deal on Match. Honestly, if that or the fact that I haven't disclosed my income really bothers you, we probably won't get along anyway.
I'm simply looking for a good person who might like to come along for the ride. Honest, intelligent, family oriented and low drama are the are the only requirements. Other than that, if you also enjoy jumping out of airplanes, climbing mountains, random road trips, intellectual conversations and the occasional competitive drinking, that would be a perk.
