I can tell you that i wear my heart on my sleeve and have had it knocked off and kicked but i always pick it up and put it back and learn. Im tooting my own horn here so here I go, Ive been on the SWAT team for 20 years as breach (obviously) and a sniper for the past fifteen years. Ive spent 13 years on the scuba dive recovery team (yes for dead drowning victims). Ive been inner department assigned to the ATF for two years and have had top secret clearance and have been all over the eastern coast with them, Ive spent the last 7 years in the narcotics division which is the departement I wanted 25 years ago. Ive bought from the worst of the worst, including guns, drugs of any and all kinds and interrogated the worst of the worst in the drug world and can get them to talk and work on their level but I do clean up nice. I am a genuine person and can adopt to what life deals. But i want to leave this all and start a new life, the life I was meant to live and that is seeing all the world has to offer and I found that in Colorado. The mountains are my goal now and I will succeed in getting there and seeing all the beauty and good things in life with or without that special person, matters not to me. Well thought I would update real quick! No more Ghana Africa peeps bugging me so that comment worked... House still hasnt sold so Im still stuck here in NY. Going to Sturgis 8/3 and staying at the Buffalo Chip, first time there and it should be a blast. Take care all who made it this far :D

Meet men and women from Colorado, United States. Okay, first things first, I’m still new to the Denver area, having moved out here from the DC area in March 2011. I moved to be closer to a great bunch of friends, and I’ve quickly adopted the more active Colorado lifestyle, including competing in my first triathlon in September 2011.
Next, I LOVE DOGS. Preferably big dogs. The ones you can wrestle with – like German Shepherds, Goldens & Newfies. I actually love cats too, dogs are just more giving. True unconditional love - the kind you feel with children. Time with my friends' or cousins’ kids always brings a smile to my face. I can spend hours playing with them or watching them play.
Time with family & friends is great. Social & extroverted, I enjoy meeting new people, although I need quiet time to myself. I try to surround myself with positive, optimistic people. Although I abhor bumper stickers, the one that says “Mean People Suck” sums it up well.
Are you happy with your life? Isn’t everyone on Match? I’m grateful for incredible parents, being close to my relatives, childhood friends who are still there for me, great health, not worrying about money, a passion that allows for real balance and contribution, being mistaken for being 5 - 10 years younger than I am.
That being said, being happy doesn’t mean being content. If we’re not improving, we’re declining. There’s no standing still. I’m constantly striving to improve in most areas of my life. Improve my health, my fitness, my relationships, my work/life balance (actually, I’m working on moving to increase imbalance here – more life & passion, less work, more income). Most importantly, improve my relationship with my life partner (by finding her); otherwise I wouldn’t be on Match.
Do you love active travel? Like breaking a sweat hiking the Inca Trail, playing sports at Club Med & meeting great people, or driving & hiking around Newfoundland. Do you like experiencing new countries for the vivid memories? Favorites include swimming with a sea turtle in the Galapagos, watching the sunrise through the Sun Gate overlooking Machu Picchu & racing back to climb Waynu Picchu for the incredible views in the same morning, and eating bangers and mash with a pint of Guinness in the Golden Lion Pub aboard QM2. Do you love to be outside in all seasons, and also enjoy getting dressed up and going to the symphony, a formal dinner with dancing, or an event? Do you love to hike all day in a foreign land, but want a hot shower & warm bed at night instead of roughing it in a tent? That’s fine by me.
I may not be totally toned & cut (I’m working on it – the toned part at least), but I can keep up with most people. I’ll try just about any sport at least once – even cliff jumping. (Okay, I did that more than once, but haven’t tried bungee jumping yet.)
Can you laugh at yourself? Friends describe my humor as more dry than most, more British than American. I'm quicker with a witty retort than an original joke, although I see humor in most of life's experiences. I love to laugh, even at myself. If you can imagine a 6’3” guy riding a tricycle with two other guys on race bikes for a high school skit...
What am I looking for in a woman? My partner in life's adventures, big & small. My best friend through the ups and downs. A shared connection, the kind of connection my parents had even after 40 years of marriage. You have the ability to forgive the inevitable mistakes that happen in life. (Hey, I’m a guy. Now that you see how bad my pick-up lines are, you can understand why I am on match. Ha ha
I chose balancedfreak as my match name because I truly am a balanced person. Everything in moderation seems to work for me.
I admit I grew up a total sports freak and played just about any sport you can imagine including the big 3 competitively. My dad was a coach and I loved playing and competing. I believe I became the person I am today largely because of this background. I am loyal, driven, team oriented, outgoing and very active. I never want to let the rest of my team down so I will do whatever it takes to ensure I hold up my end of the bargain.
My dad was also a math teacher and my mom taught 3rd grade so I was also brought up with strict expectations academically. Even with my academic background, back about 15 years ago I think I could’ve been pigeon holed into the crazy sports guy category. However, as I’ve…gulp….matured, I have learned to enjoy so many more things such as theatre, foreign films, travel (not just to the beach anymore…although those are great trips too), etc.
The “balanced” description goes much farther than just sports and theater. While I am a morning person, I also like staying out late. While I like going out on the town, I also like chilling at home. While I am naturally very responsible and can be serious when needed, I am also somewhat of a goofball and find humor in just about anything.
