Well, there is a lot more, of course. Laughter, curiosity, learning, loyalty,
moral values, ethics, and love of family all embraced by an umbrella of honesty;
these qualities are not just trivial words written to inveigh respect. I
believe they generate
long lasting intimate relationships. I believe that finding someone who
possesses these qualities is the "treasure" I seek.
To describe oneself is ...difficult. I have
a positive attitude! I don't take myself seriously and readily admit to my many
mistakes. I'm outgoing and friendly. I have many wonderful friends and
therefore feel very "wealthy" indeed!
I love an adventure! I love to travel, hike, swim, experience different
cultures and discover what is around the next bend. I have "cruised" to Costa
Rica on a 36' ketch. I loved the cruising life, the self-reliance, the
heightened awareness of one's senses to changes in nature. When it became too
hot, I sometimes dived over the side for a quick swim....until I discovered that
there were sea snakes around! Two of the most beautiful experiences of my life
occurred on that boat
My first experience occurred in the Sea of Cortez when the boat sailed through a
herd of sperm whale cows with their calves.
When they exhaled I could smell their fishy breaths. They tilted
their bodies to look up at the boat or spy hopped! They were slow, relaxed...it
was a spiritual experience and it lasted for a whole half of an hour.
And then, off the coast of Costa Rica, at 3:00 AM I was on "watch" in the boat.
Thunder storms were brewing and the moonless night was pitch black except for
the running light and the stars peeking through the dark rising cumulous clouds.
Suddenly the ocean became lit up from below in great polka dots all around the
boat. It had sailed right through a "bait boil" and larger predators from below
were coming up to snatch the bait. Bioluminescence due to all the activity cast
great glowing green circles of light. To top off the sight came the sound of
dolphins exhaling as they plunged into the frenzy. Their graceful splashes and
exhalations put the final note on a "Fantasia-like" experience.
I also love theater and have discovered just lately that I enjoy opera...who
would have guessed that? I love all types of travel. This last summer I went
to St. Petersburg, Russia. I've been to Europe three times. I also love to camp
and do just about anything that involves learning something new. I have spent
so much of my time learning about the sciences that I don't feel that the
liberal arts have received their fair share. I'm trying to rectify that!

Both of my sons have been on their own for many years. They are the light of my
life and I am oh, so proud of both of them! They are both computer engineers.
I don't have grandchildren but wouldn't mind being a grandma. And....no....I
wouldn't actually say that to them because I just don't believe in pressuring
one's children to make such a HUGE decision. Its really none of my business!
One of my main passions has been teaching! I love my students...well 99.99% of
them. I am currently teaching at the high school level and still enjoy it.
I would like to do some field biology in the future. That sounds so interesting
to me. But then, so many things sound interesting to me that I'm wide open to
new experiences! A sense of humor and the ability to be flexible, to achieve
intimacy, and be a partner can lead to ...true love. Ahhhh! The treasure is
out there for those of us lucky enough to find it!

I am semi-retired, but go to Europe or Japan 3 times a year to do therapy with soldiers, Marines and their families. Although I am a lifetime peacenik, I find working with soldiers on bases fascinating. I also am trying to figure out by being with the soldiers why we seem to love war.
After a career of helping others discover their creativity through art as an art therapist, I am focusing more on my own art. Interested in design, fabric, found objects (have to do something with all the flotsum I have picked up at the beach near my house)

I like to cook and would like someone who enjoys my cooking for him and occasionally cooks for me! Someone happy in their own skin and who likes mine. I have always liked men who could fix things and make things. Working side by side or in the same house on projects ( individual or house projects) is a favorite occupation of mine. I am always surprised that I am the age I am. I sometimes worry about the effects of aging, but am content in my own skin.
