Meet someone special from United States. Although I've been thinking of doing this for a while, only recently have I been ready to meet a genuine friend, who could become a lifetime partner. General specifics: I am youthful, single, healthy, and happy with my life. I test ten years younger than my chronological age, and am quite fit. Gainfully self-employed; and love my work. My passions are many: the art of communication, art in all it's forms, philosophy - particularly eastern philosophy, meditation; regular exercise, being in nature; socio-political interests and concerns (such as what the heck is going on in Washington, and how can we change the 'state of union'). I am a native Californian, raised by an 'old world' mother in the values of politeness, kindness, and femininity, which is a fair description of my way of being. I have worked hard to cultivate an ease of being in my life, and I believe that is how it should feel in relationship with someone if the connection is real and for the relationship to endure.
I value tradition and some of the more old-fashioned modes of being. At the same time, I am a child of the 60's, and that spirit of openness, optimism, and of being able to make a difference in the world has been a driving force in my life. It is a heartfelt commitment of mine to make the world a better place for myself and others. That can involve organized efforts and lobbying for policy changes; but the small day-to-day opportunities are contributions to change, and equally important (think: interactions with the checker/bag-check person at the grocery store). There is a bumper sticker I would publish if I could only find a way to make it more succinct, without losing the meaning. It would read: “I believe my behavior casts a vote for the kind of world I want to live in”.
I am endlessly curious about life, fascinated, and often amused by human nature, the goings-on in the world, and politics. I am concerned about the direction we are going in as a country…but that’s another ongoing conversation. I can never, ever, get enough good conversation, or a good intellect, or intellectual openness and curiosity. And if that intellect is informed by the wisdom and values of the heart…such a pleasure, and so extraordinary.
As for dating: I am basically an old-fashioned girl at heart, so online dating is a departure, and somewhat awkward to me. I appreciate a man who knows himself well, has an interest and discipline in the care of his health and fitness, is smart, kind, accomplished, and who has a good sense of humor about himself and life. A man who treats me like a lady, who takes time and values getting to know me; who follows up and connects after a date; and who initiates next steps. I imagine a friendship that develops into a long term partnership, and includes a genuine ease and pleasure in each other's company; and the potential to grow more so over time.
