Okay. Time for a rewrite.
Having read a fair few profiles, including my own, I should now know what not to write. That's the theory anyway.
That makes it harder and shorter, even though there has been much activity over the years.
I am like a 21 year old, going on 52, without the foibles of such youth. On the contrary, I feel the years have sparked me. At 21 though I had not yet completed my BA degree. At 21 I was in Manhattan learning the trade of photography. I hailed from the UK. At 26 I was back in the UK. Photography morphed into a career of merchandising. Slowly, the wheels turned as I became more interested in what I was selling. Furniture, antiques, bric-a-brac and having a shop to sell these kinds of things from, eventually made me realize that I needed more education, that the future would be better for it. At that point came the road to an Arts degree. As much as I love Fine Art, it was the love of the material world and industry that made me select something more like Design. However, I needed the Fine Art angle and so I chose something that might steer me into Design and Art I don't mind getting my hands dirty, but opted for something cleaner, that being Textiles and Textile Design. But it had to be combined with a History of Art. I selected a degree that would be better known as Fibre Art in the States, and with that History of Art knowledge included, The result was something like Conceptual Art and this is the major difference between a Visual Art and a Fine Art that creates the wacky stufff we see today. However, I ended up working in industry that was more design than that, that I was originally seeking. But I was fine with that. Earning money is good.
I had visited NYC a second time in the late 90's and by 2004 had fully returned with a very long stay in mind, only this time not in New York, but California.
So lets take a break from the time-line and talk about you and me. Its no use my stipulating what I think I would hope for in a dear friend. I would not expect all interests to match up. But you would hope there are common activities, right? But since when do we stop learning or rigidly stick to the old habits? I am always about change. I may not be able to free myself of my basic nature, but I do change and learn and love to learn. Love to learn and love to follow new habits of meaning.
Ladies. A lady is what I fancy. If you could only see what some of you write. "I want someone who can make me laugh" or "I am looking for the adventure man", who likes to go wine tasting. A man who is happy in his own skin. I want a man that I can grow old with!. Cliche balderdash! You look outside of your box and you will get that. It would go with the territory. It would go without saying. If the words aren't there, be sure to look elsewhere. If the pictures are few and far, you better make up your own reality mental pictures to inform you. Might save you some time. A stitch in 9.
So what's my idea then, you may ask. Come to think of it, I do like wine. A great Pinot Noir satisfies this palette. I would hope you would explore the local and the wider horizon. But being home is good too. Watching exotic movies, reading a book that prospers and attending to the simple stuff. Cinema. Theatre. Art Galleries. Downtown hangouts. If you prefer high profile stuff, spin the wheel x :)
