It’s always a little awkward to describe yourself so I asked some of my friends how they would describe me and these are some of the words they used: Funny, witty, youthful, caring, compassionate, full of life, easy going, a true “go to guy,” the one you would call in a crisis even if the crisis is just someone needing to see the positive in their current situation. While I was certainly touched by these descriptions I realize that of course they downplay any negative stuff (and let’s face it, there is some, I’m not perfect!) but also it’s important to remember that these people have known me for over 20 years. I think I tend to grow on people and that my strength lies in cultivating long-term relationships.
Now, here is how I see myself… I'm an understanding, mature but goofy, fun guy, a father of 2 girls who live with me part-time. I’m a hopeless romantic, open-minded, and have a very quick wit. I am a dork in the best sense of the word, meaning I don't take myself too seriously and if I make a fool of myself I'm ok with that! I enjoy outdoor activities and sunshine. I prefer warmth to cold and shorts to pants. I enjoy an intense workout, a good movie or sitting around with friends for conversation and a good laugh.
I'm a competitive racquetball player and train often to improve my game. I am 5'10" tall and weigh 190 lbs. I love going to the gym for daily work-outs, but wouldn’t describe myself as a gym rat. I do not drink, smoke nor do drugs. This is just a personal choice. I am not in recovery nor have I ever had an issue with any of that. To be honest I’ve never been drunk in my life, I just don’t like the way alcohol tastes.
As to the history of my bald head; I allowed my youngest daughter to shave my head in May of 2006 when she lost her hair from chemo. She battled cancer and won! She is alive and doing great, cancer free for over 3 years now. I consider my bald head a reminder of how lucky I am to have her with us.
What brings me to match? I'm looking for "true love"… that one special person that makes me light up like a Christmas tree any time I hear her voice, receive a message or spend time with her!! I want to find someone that shares my passion for life, is in a good mood most of the time, understands Seinfeld and is a very casual person. I want her to know what she wants and be confident enough to express those desires. She should want to feel secure in her man's strong arms, but be able to take care of herself as well. Ideally, she cares about her body and keeps it in good shape and she appreciates a man that does the same. I want to be with someone who loves to laugh, kiss, and make love. I am not looking for a hook-up or a one-night-stand. On the contrary, while a physical relationship is extremely important to me, I want it to be the product of a deep connection between me and the woman I care about.
I don't expect to fall in love on the first date, but hopefully we will find some middle ground where you and I share a BIG smile when we hear from one another, where sarcasm keeps us on our toes and a kiss goodbye means there will be a kiss hello in the near future.

My female friends, all of whom are married, will tell you I'm handsome, smart, funny, quick witted and charming, but they love me so take it with a grain of salt, I do. However, what I know for certain is I'm kind, polite, giving and care about the feelings of the people I interact with and I look for that in a partner. Speaking of parties, is everybody here going out every night? I'm not. Mostly I cook, read, watch TV, play my guitar, work out and sleep. However, once or twice a week I'll go out to a pub, visit friends, see some live music, hit the beach and occasionally, dress up for a nice dinner.
Guitar and music is a passion but just a hobby. Still, I'll pllay a bit each day, it's a great way to relax and let your mind take a little vacation. I graduated law school, passed 2 bar exams (NY NJ) and promptly moved to LA to pursue a career in the arts (on a quiet night you can still hear my mom screaming). I'm a produced screenwriter, have been for 20 years. It's a feast and famine enterprise but fortunately I've mostly eaten well. However, it is a youth driven industry so I offset the struggles with work as a substitute teacher from time to time.
I was an athlete most of my life and still work out (swim, weights, bike) so I'm pretty solid at 5'10" 200lbs. However, I love good tasty food so there's generally a touch of meat over the muscle and I don’t' see that changing. Still, I'm in good enough shape to bike the LA Marathon each year.
My style is casual. I'm more jeans than dress pants but I do clean up nicely, despite the fact I only own 2 suits. I'm neat, especially in my home. I love animals. I never watch trailers for fear of seeing something similar to a project I'm working on. My ipod has eclectic tastes, it likes all music. I eat pancakes from the middle out. I spoon but then need space when it's sleep-time. I drive a CRV. And I'm a terrible speller. Oh, hair. Though you can't see it in the pics I have a thin spot in the back of my head (I just laughed for 5 minutes writing this, I'll probably never hear from anyone again, but I swore honesty. lol).

I have moved on, she has found a new love. Yes I do care for my past family. Life does not allow you to wipe out the past and what kind of person do you think I would be if I could. To confirm, the words I wrote came from the heart, at the time just maybe a sad heart. I now smile more even when I'm unfairly judged. Have heard that I have not paid my dues and I might still have baggage. Really ladies? Stating in your profile family is critically important with the only difference is you maybe divorced. You may have kids, they may live at home, family is not baggage. Placed minimal boundaries in my profile, not critical of others who started a family later in life and have young children living at home. I have enough self-esteem to not be worried of a ex-husband-father. I could be their alternate dad, not the replacement. Don't judge me if I have been honest, my age is 51, and I will be legally divorced by Jan 2013. I have changed my status to divorced.
Sadly I have read so many profiles of what is desired and wished for. I'm no different.
Some simple clarity, I do not own a Harley, if I was to play golf I would cancel any tee time to be close to my partner/lover through the weekend. My marriage didn't end because of misplaced priorities. Just as the first, my new love will be admired, desired, will be my partner and will have my heart. Her family will be blended with my past.

1/8/2012, Cared for family first and now I will start again. Life creates change and I moved, adjusted and held strong to my beliefs and pride to finish and remain friends. Sacrificed my personal life to make a comfortable home for the ones I love. I like to think out of the box, fix things with my hands, and touch soft places, explore and enjoy the pleasure of love with open freedom and kindness. How to describe oneself, for me that is somewhat difficult but here goes. I guess if you asked any of the people close to me they would say that I?m: loyal, kind, loving, happy, most of the time, fun to be around, energetic, neat and clean, hard worker, has good hygiene, dedicated, generous, in shape and look and act younger than my years. I would like find the missing half, the love of my life. I have to admit that I was very skeptical at first, online dating that is. However, I decided that if this was the way I was to find my mate for life, I would be open to the possibility of finding her here.
I believe that everything in life happens for a reason, good and bad. That your past does not have to equal your present or for that matter your future. I never hold the past against anyone. I believe that we have two lives we live so to speak, the one we learn with and the one we live after that, learning from those failures and successes. I have a strong faith in God and I try to live my life in that way. I sometimes fall off of that path, as I suspect most of us do, but I strive to live a good life and treat other the way I would like to be treated.
I have an eleven year old son who is great and he is the world to me. He keeps me on my toes, especially being into 3 different sports year round! I also have 2 other children, 24 year old daughter and a 27 year old son. My daughter, who was recently married, lives in Texas and my son lives in Wisconsin with his wife and 3 children.
What I am looking for in a woman. First and foremost, she has to be loyal and sincere; I believe are the most important traits in a person. If there is no trust, there is no relationship. I want someone who is independent, but not so independent that they lack feeling or are cold. My partner must be feminine, sexy, passionate, hardworking and neat, she likes to get little surprises, (I love to give the person in my life little surprises when they least expect it), and someone who is not embarrassed by public displays of affection, holding hands, for example. I need a woman to accept me for who I am and I will accept them in this way as well. I would like us to complement each other, and that's not to say that we have to be the same or have all of the same interests.
What I am attracted to physically in a woman: someone who takes care of herself likes to wear high heels and a pretty dress or some great jeans. Someone who is comfortable in whatever; hanging around the house, going for a bike ride or going to the gym. It is also very important that she is into staying in shape and eating right most of the time. I think that this is an important part of a relationship. We both should be attracted to each other to what's on the inside but also to what's on the outside as well.

I write this because in the short time I have been on match, I have found that this is not always the case.
