America and worked for a multinacional corporation as an Insurance Risk Manager. In 1979 I was transferred to their headquarters in San Francisco and inmediately fell in love with the beauty, diversity and culture of the Bay Area and S.F became my home since.
While living in SF I was very involved with the visual and performing arts, Opera, Symphony, Ballet and the Museums.
I have traveled extensively all over the world, Italy, France, Spain, London, Egypt, Turkey, Morocco, Israel, Australia, China, India and lived in Japan and Hong Kong for a while.
I'm genuine and have an upbeat personality, curious, spontaneous, like to do things in the spur of the moment, a good sense of humor, optimistic. Love cooking, eat healthy. I'm fortunate with good health and good genes. I don't look my age and I'm younger than my years in both though and action. I also love to get out, and spend time both traveling (humanitarian, and pleasure) and backpacking when I can. I live alone in a house I own and enjoy, and I am still chipping away at developing it. I have three kids whom I do not see often enough, although two now live pretty close. My work schedule is pretty flexible, which allows me to take trips when the opportunity presents itself, and I really enjoy travel. I am reasonably fit (managed the 8 mile days and 1500' climbs with a backpack on the Lost Coast last month) but I'm distinctly lazy when it comes to the gym. My sport of choice is backpacking (the slow suits me fine) but I used to love soccer and often think of trying tennis (sadly, I am not athletically gifted...one foot in front of the other is my forte). I love music, but am not gifted, and would enjoy getting into more dance.
Crafts are also something I enjoy, and spend time doing when I have a chance. I am an OK cook (a few signature dishes, but don't whip up gourmet meals out of nothing) but am a fairly mean baker and make literally hundreds of cookies come holiday time.
Compassion is the most important virtue i can think of, and helping people is important to me.
Under disclaimers, I am NOT a jazzy and "with it" person. As a friend once complained "you don't even know the pop songs from when you were a teen" So true. I am a child of the 60's, but most of the happenings passed by me, while I was mired in studies. While others were protesting Viet Nam, i was still trying to figure out the Holocaust. On the other hand, I am trying to catch up...a bit.
I am looking for a relationship with someone who loves the out of doors, loves travel, and loves kids and people (loving animals is OK also). I am a hopeless romantic, but prefer to move into intimacy slowly (not glacially, however). I dream of sharing road trips, poking in out of the way places, and laughing about funny events and odd occurrences.
