Date a woman from United States. When I look at my life, I am grateful for everything that I've experienced, even those things that might be perceived as negative; I look at them as opportunities to learn the lesson they are offering and move on. I see the rose on the table, not the dust ; I look at the glass as half full, not half empty. Life is a gift, and like a gift which is also called a "present", I try every day to live in the present and not dwell on the past or look too far into the future.
I am a retired middle school counselor; I can truly say that I loved my career which mostly involved teaching the kids problem-solving skills that could benefit them for the rest of their lives. I never awakened in the morning and dreaded going to work.
I was blessed to have had a very fulfilling career, but I am looking forward to the next phase of my life; I am excited to see what's around the corner! When I was young, I think quite a few women in my generation were attracted to physical appearance and career stability. While those attributes are not unimportant (i.e., chemistry and financial stability), I am now relying on my instincts to guide me in finding love. Internal qualities, such as kindness and respect, are now my benchmarks for selecting a person. Personally, I think my friends would describe me as happy, kind, a good listener, and respectful. Additionally, I think people would notice that for a woman my age that I take care of myself physically, but after spending a little time with me, I feel that would sense that I'm caring and kind as well.
I think it is extremely important to establish a friendship before moving into a romantic relationship. I feel that a strong base, which friendship affords, is essential in "wading through" life's invariable ups and downs. I'm looking forward to meeting you!
p.s. A few years ago, I spent two years living in two different locales, part-time in San Luis Obispo, and part-time in another state. I loved it! As long as there is an airport near-by so I can visit my grandchildren from time to time, I would be open to doing it again!

Date a soulmate from United States. I have lived in San Luis since attending Cal Poly. I raised my three sons here. Currently two of my grown sons live in SLO and the other lives with his wife in San Francisco. I have been a career teacher which has provided long summer vacations making it possible to travel; a lifelong passion. Last year I returned to Kenya with my closet friend. Yet, a day rarely goes by that I don't get outside to enjoy the beauty of this area. I do my best to stay fit so that I can continue to enjoy an active life. Hiking, walking and getting to the gym help me do that along with keeping up with a class of busy kids. In short I am, for the most part, a very happy person.

Date a woman from California, United States. I'm mild mannered, fun when with a good partner, don't show emotions easily, but appear sedate; but can be more exciting when with the right person. I would like to know someone who is full of warm fuzzys and laughs and who talks to me. I am a good listener. I like to know who you are and what you have done and dream about doing. I like a man who knows he's a man. I'd like to meet a man who is not ashamed of his faith.
Meet someone special from California, United States. In the past several years, I have become even more passionate about travel and what one can learn about one's self as well as others along the way. A couple of years ago I hiked 8 miles to see lava flow into the ocean in Hawaii. Within the past several years I have toured Europe as well as visiting Ecuador with family, including my grandsons. I enjoyed the Yucatan and its ruins and walked through the rain forest in Costa Rica to "catch" turtle poachers (we called ourselves poach busters) and visited Anghor Wat in Cambodia with my daughter. With friends I have visited indigenous people in Guatemala and Peru, and enjoyed the "mystery" and "majesty" of Bejing and Xian. I'm always ready to go! I like road trips in our own wonderful country tool I love the museums, bookstores, cultural events in the city, and the adventure, beauty and solitude of the wilderness.
I also can be a homebody who enjoys cooking with someone, watching a good video, playing backgammon, enjoying good conversation, being playful and hanging out.
Close to home I spend time with my family (I rode Thunder Mountain three times in a row at the urgings of my grandsons). I work out regularly, hike, and I have recently taken up the guitar. I read voraciously and am a "forever student".
I'm accepting of people as they are, and not much shocks me. I believe in making the most of life. For me, that includes a nurturing rellationship. I'm pragmatic enough to understand that compatibility, partnership, and physical attraction are essential to a good match. I'm also romantic enough to leave flowers on your doorstep, massage your sore muscles, and to plan spontaneous surprises. I adore playful togetherness, and intimate talk and cinnamon toast in bed at 3 a.m. sound pretty much perfect!
My ideal match is sincere, has a sense of humor, doen't take himself too seriously, is open, direct and willing to communicate, is compassionate, is thrilled to have me in his life, loves the outdoors, travel, music, and wants to play as well as have serious dialogue. He also wants the "real thing" rather than being "hooked" on the continuous search for the perfect "Match".
I know you are out there! Let me hear from you.
