I am a huge Rob Sheffield and Chuck Klosterman fan--I love their take on pop culture and their keen analysis of music. I love live music, so I go to a lot of concerts and shows. The Belly Up is one of my favorite venues in SD, but the Troubadour in LA is my all-time favorite place to see a band.
I am the mother of the most wonderful 12 year-old twin boys on the planet. They are lovers of music as well. We have already seen Weezer, Blink-182, The Flaming Lips, The Killers, Morrissey and Norah Jones together. They've got a great foundation for lifelong listening!
So yeah...I host a lot of parties at my house and enjoy hanging out with my friends and family. I enjoy reading. I just finished reading Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman--genius! I also enjoyed Patti Smith's Just Kids. I love a good rock biography, and this one was particularly well-written. I also am making my way through Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, but I take time off to indulge in something lighter...
I am a teacher, so I have a lot of time off. It's definitely a perk! In addition to the aforementioned music obsession, I love reading, writing and seeing movies, although I can appreciate the magic of such classics as Friday, Swingers or The Hangover, Wes Anderson and Cameron Crowe are my favs. I love getting to know people on a deeper level, but I am very silly and sarcastic as well--inside jokes are wonderful...and witty repartee is something upon which I thrive.
Celebration is what I do...life is too short to not be celebrating every chance possible. I seek wonder and ambiance and the perfect soundtrack for good times.
