I've recently moved to L. A. from Boston. I'm in the midst of a career change. I used to work for an investment management company. I developed marketing strategy, sales and training programs to support the sale of mutual funds and 529 plans.
A lot happened in my life (which I won't bore you with here) and I decided that I couldn't bear the thought of spending the rest of my days working in financial services marketing -- I just wasn't passionate about it. Fridays would come and I'd think...darn Monday will be here in two days.
They say the best job is to do what you'd do for free...for me that's psychology. So I recently finished an
M. A. In clinical psychology at a local university in Los Angeles. I also just started a therapeutic services company. I absolutely love it!! It's the best thing I've ever done for myself next to getting my MBA and moving to L. A. (hey I made a rhyme).

I can't tell a joke to save my life, although if you hear me try you'll laugh as hard as if I had told a joke. (I forget the words, my timing is off, it's a mess, funny but a mess). I'm also a bit prissy. No, I'm a lot prissy, and a bit spoiled, but not bratty. I'm very nurturing. Once I get to know someone my way to show affection is to take care of them. So you'd have to be OK with someone fussing to make sure that everything runs smoothly for you.
I'm pretty health conscious. I exercise 3 times a week, yoga, Afro-Brazilian dance class and body sculpting are my favorites. I pretty much stay away from fried foods and fast food i.e. McDonalds, and BK. But I do love a 6" subway sandwich with baked lays. I'm not a fanatic just like to "keep it healthy".
The man who may be a good match for me is very successful, confident, persistent, driven, attentive, straightforward, munificent, supportive, honest and passionate. Passionate about life, love, career. I'm interested in someone who will enjoy ordering take out, kicking back and spending a Sunday watching football, basketball or golf (sorry..I just can't get into hockey and I only like baseball if I'm watching it live, unless it's the playoffs or World Series). The basics about me don't say much about the spirit you'll experience when you meet me. However, you deserve to know the basics!! I tend to work hard at times and am proud of my career, but am equally proud of my progress towards balance. I enjoy being outdoors -- hiking, walking, bike riding, or just hanging out at the beach. In my free time, I will be traveling somewhere or learning to cook more (which is fun even though I didn't use to think so) or working on various home improvement projects. The people in my life here move me, too. My nephews are amazing tiny people who make me laugh and whose love bring me great joy. I feel so lucky to have them pretty close by. My dad is 70 going on 30 with all his athleticism thru running, water-skiing, biking, and my mom is 66 going on 30 with moving to Haiti for a next year to volunteer (I am truly impressed with both of them). I am thankful for having so many awesome friends... My 40th birthday party last year was truly a surprise in so many ways. It was wonderful to feel so touched for an entire evening.
The things I am looking for in a partner: moderation (you are passionate about things, but not overboard on any one thing), humor (it is so easy to make me laugh, so this isn't a high bar), intelligence, and goodness. . When I started out in the bay area, I was just passing through on a work contract. Being drawn in though by all the adventures to be had for both city life and the great outdoors, I found myself hanging up my hat. Cultural events in the city to roughing it in the backcountry, I enjoy keeping a wide scope of interests. Outdoor diversions feature high on the list. I spend a fair bit of time working on a volunteer project I have on the go for one of the humanitarian organizations. . Really? *I* have to describe me? Really?!? I'm perfect!!! Kidding! Here's the Cliff Notes version: I usually prefer a direct approach, enjoy good conversation, love a great debate, but hate to argue. I'm loyal, optimistic, adventurous, outgoing, sometimes a little shy, passionate, and I probably won't admit to being a hopeless romantic. Yes I have responsibilities, but that doesn't stop me from having a little wild and playful/gooball side. As a teacher (by the way, I love what I do), I always tell my students that it's a big world - go find it! Well, now I'm ready to travel, explore, and go see more of it.
Adventures rock! That said, I guess the best gift I ever received was my Garmin - so much easier to explore with the luxury of always being able to find my way home. Sorry guys, but (sigh) otherwise I might need to actually stop for directions. I've been in California for several years, but I'm originallly from the outskirts of Anchorage, Alaska. I had the woods in my backyard, so that and my heritage have taught me to respect nature. I love the outdoors, going on a long day hike where you're surrounded by the sounds of nature instead of electricity and technology, activities and playing at the beach, even a good walk on the sand. My family and friends also just get together for a BBQ, or maybe sometimes meet up for Dim Sum (yum!). It'd be great to find someone who also shares a respect and curiousity for the world - all the similiarities, differences, people, art, music. I stay active, love football, and enjoy lots of different sports. After having a short illness, I've had a speedbump in my exercising, and I'm just a couple of weeks away from being as toned again as I usually am. (Activities or exercising together?...)
Ideally, It'd be nice to find a guy that is familiar with (or has at least heard of) Polynesian/Pacific Islander/Asian activities. I'm very close with my sister, brother-in-law and family, and lots of nieces and nephews. Although I'm not performing any longer as a Tahitian dancer (now I'm always the photographer for all the kids), all the Tahitian/Polynesian (etc.) events and competitions we go to are amazing, and in some aspects, sort of a 'way of life.' It would be great to share that part of my life. Still reading?
Other than that, what can I say for now? I'm not perfect, nor do I expect perfection in return. I'd like to find a man of integrity - he needs to be confident and comfortable with himself in all aspects: passionately, spiritually, and physically. An overall great guy who can absolutely laugh with me! At this point in my life, I'm hoping to meet a man of substance and honesty, and able to mutually respect each other's differences and 'imperfections'.

. I read this in a book and I liked it so much that it bears repeating here. This is honestly a simple down to earth description of myself. I have always liked people. I love gentleness. I have patience. I love teaching. I am determined in my faith. Because of that I live good, do good and IРІР‚в„ўm very blessed. I am honest and kind with a vivacious appetite for life.
My children and I are constantly on the go. We can frequently be found in the mountains hiking or on the local trails biking. We are just getting into mountain biking and loving every minute of it. There is still so much to learn! There is nothing like picking up a new hobby with the kids and learning with them. I treasure these times because they grow up way too fast.
I love cars, in fact I think the smell of a garage is something you should be able to bottle up and sell. (Maybe a little overboard but not that far off.) I am just as comfortable in a t-shirt and jeans talking cars as I am in a cocktail dress and heels.
