Just turned 60 the other day and although I'm still working, I'm starting to settle into a kind of retired lifestyle. Who or what makes you smile?
Anytime I see someone who is obviously adept at whatever it is they are doing at that time. Rain, storms, showers, breezes. Music, especially early Motown, Jazz, Brazilian, Light Classical. (Favorite musicians are pianists, guitarists and vocalists). Finding a forgotten dollar bill in pocket of clothing. Learning about an accomplishment of my daughter’s. Effort and confidence. Completion of a project.

The ability to assimilate and utilize the many lessons taught by my mother, aunt and other mentors. Fatherhood and doing my very best to be “the best” at it. Only second person in my family to graduate from college, Ohio University. Registering first time voters.
What are you grateful for?
The love, direction and compassion afforded me by my mother, aunt and other mentors. My health and optimism. Life’s challenges that taught me to be a better person … physically, morally and spiritually. The jobs and the opportunities afforded me in the music industry … mostly, for the people I met.
What type of person are you hoping to attract?
Someone whose had a fair share of disappointment, enough to make her appreciative and empathetic. Someone whose a pragmatist, yet unafraid to think outside the box. A fine arts enthusiast … music, theatre, architecture photography, conceptual art, etc. Likes to travel, meet new people and discover new foods. Loves laughing, yet can take a joke with ease. Especially patient and caring with children and seniors.
How would you describe your social life?
Varied. It ranges from humongous parties where there are many I know and just as many as I look forward to meeting. Conversely, a book and some music or an old black & white classic or the sound of a torrential rain storm or the gentle breeze of a summer evening is plenty company. I honestly enjoy meeting people from other cultures. I find it fascinating, enlightening and rewarding.
What types of things make you laugh out loud?
When I review something in my mind that I may have said or done which was embarrassing. When I watch a young child smile or try to figure something out without any help from an older person. When I learned I was the father of my then 6 year old daughter … actually, it was a huge shout of joy!

Trust, integrity, strength, compassion and comfort. Someone who is committed to compromise and has the courage to admit mistakes. Intellect in a partner that can teach and be taught. Spirituality but not necessarily an adherent to organized religion.
What are the things in life you're most passionate about?
Fairness, education, ecology, health, current events, dissemination of civic information and voting as a result, kindness and respect for others, great music, literature, art. Still attempting “to take the perfect photo” and write pop charted song. Living each day with a smile on my face and a thank you in my heart.

About me; “statistically speaking”, I am sixty years young. My daughter tells me that I look my age and my son’s tell me I look fifty. Must be a man thing because I feel no more than fifty except for a few stiff joints here and there occasionally. That I attribute to a large part of the first trimester of my life spent doing what I wanted to do; building and racing cars and motorcycles and working hard at a trade to support myself. For the most part, my hair has now thinned some, still black but with the addition of grey strands here and there. Eyes are still the same, warm and loving. Oh, I almost forgot, five foot eight and one half inches tall to be exact. Sorry, some of my sarcastic humor leaking out.
Moving on; Italian and as such, have been passed along the cooking gene. My homemade raviolis are a labor of love and to die for not to mention my sauce. I’m passionate about just about everything especially for the ones that I love. Maybe sometimes a little controlling even, but I’m working on that. Got sidetracked… As I was saying before, the first thirty or so years was spent insanely in tune with anything that reeked of gas and oil. The next thirty years was spent refining my trade and becoming best in class. Blue collar and proud of it. I moved in and out of my chosen profession a few times and to this day I have never regretted one moment for it allowed me an education few have ever experienced. The next thirty years also brought marriage and family. Again more hard work, loving every minute. As I watch my children get older and develop their own identities, I have no doubt that they will accomplish everything set out in front of them. We now have the most exquisite relationships and as if fair play and turn around, they now provide their old man with their own wisdom and insight. What will the next thirty or so years bring?
Well let me start by saying that what I know for sure is my confidence is high, my focus is strong and my passion burns with a white hot flame. What’s missing is a beautiful, smart, strong, focused, creative, sensitive, caring, compassionate and loving woman to share the upcoming adventures of life. When we hold each other in our arms and kiss each other’s lips, we will know true love.

So I again am adding to my content. It seems that every day I am more focused to improve upon what I’ve already done. I have never run from anything and as such, find myself concentrating more at finding my best friend for the long haul. FYI; First I read what you have to say (this comes from my own writing). This is my first understanding. Next should there be a photo or photos, I look at your eyes as this is now my second understanding. First, a bit about me… I’m a down-to-earth, approachable and genuine 60-year-old (yikes, when did that happen!)—a blue-collar guy in a white collar profession, I like to say. At my core, I embrace old-fashioned values—integrity, commitment, hard work and respect—and I continually strive to learn about and improve myself. But don’t let the white hair fool you—I’ve had this “Steve Martin look” since my 40s—I’m quite active and passionate about many things.
Some of my interests include cooking, exploring and camping the desert Southwest, movies and popcorn, sampling ethnic foods, dancing (or at least trying…), losing myself in bookstores, traveling, stargazing and photography. And, surprise of all surprises, even "talking about us." Sure, I’d prefer jeans, steak, cold beer and a ball game, but who says I can’t also sport a tux, enjoy Coquilles St. Jacques and glass of Chablis, and hobnob at a musical theater production or museum with the woman I love. Fact is, I clean up pretty well; I even gots m’own teeth! ;-)
Just about anything can be fun if it’s shared with a loving partner, but what I cherish most are the simple, everyday moments: sharing Chinese take-out while snuggling together in front of a video, stealing a kiss at a stoplight, cooking a new recipe together, sharing a loving glance or sexy wink across a crowded room, and laughter. Lots of laughter! All that's missing is a special woman to share it all—a truly equal partner in life and love.
My “ideal woman” is one who first feels good about herself, and who shares my child-like exuberance for life.
