When I can mainly enjoy backroad travel, lots of reading (any social science or history subject) and writing, dicussing politics, occasionally dining out, visiting friends, doing some ceramics, wood working and planning (dreaming) of a small cozy custom home (I'm a homeowner now but have my own ideas of what the perfect small home would be like).
Most people find me easy-going and unscheduled (perhaps to a fault) - i.e., I just enjoy doing things that are unplanned and don't mind changing plans. Simple things delight: taking a ferry to San Francisco, driving to Pt. Reyes, going to concert with a friend in Napa, visiting a friend in Chico, exploring a new road that I missed. I enjoy having a personal reason to travel (e.g. exploring S.F. to find all the locations in the Maltese Falcon, or exploring the best rose growing regions, etc.).
Do be aware, however, and I'm not into doing (vs. viewing) sports. I confess I'd still want to try scuba diving, rafting, and parachuting at least once..
So my ideal lifestyle? Let's see, living somewhere on the coast with my love in a craftsmen or strawbale cottage of my (our) design, growing roses, sampling wines, dining out with friends, doing ceramics, and writing non-fiction social and political commentary. All of it laced with trips to remote spots in my Jeep or an RV and occasionally doing think tank policy work for a local conservative or libertarian NGO.
My mate would be easy going, love to read, and might have an artistic sense. She ought to love to laugh, does not mind our occasional mutual teasing , luv to cuddle and have a taste for the comedy in everyday life. In return I would like to be protective and be there. If you want me to solve a problem I will try, and if not, I will just listen. Someone independent, yet appreciative of support..someone confident, but who enjoys her femininity...someone flexible and caring.
My mate may not agree with me politically (I doubt she would), but she must be prepared to accept our differences...much of it on a level of good natured jesting and humor. I don't wear my political opinions on my sleeve, or feston my vehicle with bumper stickers, but do know that I am a free market capitalist. I value liberty and individualism, live and let live, and desire much smaller government with lower taxes, and think politics is rather amusing human pursuit.

Sports-aholic, rabid Giants and 49ers fan (however, content to tape games and watch them on my own time, rather that subjecting others to that). Half Italian, so love to travel to Europe (esp Paris, best city in the world [sorry, mom]. Love Belgian beer (and more) and sweet wines (Riesling, Gewurtz, dessert wines of all sorts). Love seafood, Mexican food, burgers and fries, Thai, Chinese, BBQ and fries, French, steak and fries, but no Sushi (sorry, but we wouldn't have discovered fire if we were meant to eat raw stuff). Always up for a game of tennis (intermediate, at best). Recently discovered I'm nuts about bridge.
