Meet a man from Claremont, United States. I have taught high school science and math for many years. My degree is in chemistry. I also have a degree in real estate and education in many other areas including physical education. I am by nature a leader and was once the president of a teachers’ union which was a full time job and involved political organizing, heading many committees, negotiating budgets with the school district, etc. I also coached college basketball for five years.
I had an import/retail business for many years doing business in Russia, Ukraine, Bali, Thailand, Kathmandu (Nepal), and China. I imported hand selected fine arts, crafts, textiles, jewelry and more. I once had two stores and had been working 7 days a week from morning until night for five years (while I was teaching) and I realized that this was no way to live and enjoy life so I closed my last store about six years ago and now concentrate on living and enjoying this wonderful thing we call life. Though I am quite happy alone, there is so much more happiness, interest, and excitement possible when life is shared with a special someone. Life with me will not be dull or ordinary.
I enjoy playing guitar. I used to play classical guitar but stopped 20 years ago and started again about a year ago. I am also taking private piano lessons. I enjoy classical music but also like many other kinds of music such as Irish, jazz and, of course classical rock- from the Beatles to Bach it’s all great music. I like going to concerts and watching flamenco and tango dancing.
I love to learn and am always reading books or taking classes in music and art at the college level. I was just selected by the college to exhibit a body of my work at the campus' museum of contemporary art and am very excited about it.
I love traveling and meeting people. In Dec. 2010, I went to New Zealand (3 weeks) to backpack. The last tract I did was called the Kepler tract. I walked 60 km in four days most of it in the rain and wind through rainforest and high alpine treeless mountains. I also did two other tracts as well. It was an adventure!
Even though I am not young, I continue to dream, am very energetic, healthy, eat well, exercise and am always anxious to listen and learn. I do not sit and watch TV all day. In fact, I have not owned a TV for more than 15 years. I watch DVD’s on my computer a few times a week and go to the cinema, concerts, lectures, etc.
A few of my favorite authors are Dostoevsky, Kafka, Hesse and Winston Churchill. My favorite poet is the American Emily Dickinson. I am both intellectual and down to earth. I can talk about philosophy or show you how to replace a toilet or make beaded jewelry. I enjoy working with my hands as well as my mind. I enjoy good conversation.
It is VERY important that you see yourself as an equal to me and expect to be treated with dignity and respect. You should have your own well thought out opinions and not be afraid to speak out but should also want to hear the other side and be willing to compromise. I am interested in a woman who is humorous, empathetic, creative, compromises, appreciates subtlety and is most of all not selfish. If I make a mistake about something I would like to be corrected and provided with positive suggestions in a supportive way and I will do the same.I enjoy correcting my mistakes and am never afraid to make a mistake. Finally, my life was touched this past year by a young man who died from a rare disorder. He was only 19, and could have lived as the "boy in the bubble" He chose to live his life as normally as possible, despite knowing that in doing so, his life was likely going to be short. I learned a lot from him. I try to treat everyone with respect and love. I know my life has more to reveal, and I have more to learn and share. I only seek someone who wants to explore life even more.
