The spiritual for me has been to see the divine more and more around and in me. It began solely from a professional ambition to be a great attorney mediator. Observing one "spiritual teacher" holding an exquisite heart space within conflict, to a depth beyond my ability, I aspired professionally to do the same, but soon discovered that my academic and interpersonal abilities could only get me so far -- so began the spiritual journey.

The energetic awareness thing is a recent development. A few years ago, it just turned itself on like a light switch, off to on -- perhaps I was ripe from years of mediating but who knows. Nature became alive. I could feel my energy centers and open and close them at will. I think I'm kind of an empath -- which can be way cool and at other times problematic.
Beyond the spiritual and energetic, I'm a pretty ordinary guy. More:

FAMILY --is a priority and I visit my parents, siblings and their kids in Memphis and Sarasota five to six times a year and serve as a devoted uncle.

CREATIVITY -- exploring ideas, creating art, and photo and video editing.
SPIRITUALITY (a detail as might have one in common) --along the way I have spent much time with Gangaji, Byron Katie, Adyashanti, John DeRuiter, Issac Shapiro, Reb Zalman and others. I've served as a facilitator and sometimes taught The Work, Nonviolent Communication, meditation, and Big Mind Voice Dialogue. I love Encinitas (new here) and often see it as a spiritual disneyland.
HEALTH CONSCIOUS -- I know what my body prefers and still often fall for comfort food. I've done a few raw food retreats; primarily shop at Whole Foods; rarely drink alcohol except for special occasions with friends.
SPORTS -- enjoy playing most sports, love being in the game and especially on a team, although not particularly good at any of them.

I am originally from Seattle and have been in San Diego since 96 when the Navy stationed me here for my last tour (Naval Officer aboard Destroyers at sea for 5 of my 8 years in service). I have travelled extensively through Asia, the South Pacific, the Middle East and North Africa (including being stationed in Japan for 3 years and Hawaii for 2), but nothing beats Southern California and this is my home. On an educational level, I have a BA in Economics from the University of Washington and an MA in International Relations from the University of San Diego. On a personal level I am a PADI Diver and usually try and dive at least once a year, typically Hawaii, the Caribbean or Mexico. I do love Baja Mexico, Hawaii and Vegas (will substitute New Orleans) and am there at least once a year. If you like Las Vegas and know how to play CRAPS you and I will get along (its okay if you'd rather hang out in the SPA). I am typically in Maui during the holiday season so if you'd like to come along grab your bikini!
Currently I am a Director for Petco Animal Supplies and l love my company and am very passionate about my work. It is extremely satisfying to promote the human animal bond as part of my everyday. I report to the CIO, am responsible for large technology projects and my work does require travel to India 2 to 3 times a year. I am divorced with no kids, but I do have 2 dogs that I treat like kids (kind of :)). I am very domestic and believe it or not love to cook and garden. I have a beautiful beach close home that I truly enjoy spending quality time in. If you like fresh flowers, sea breezes, candles, and the smell of good food in a warm kitchen over a bottle of wine, you just hit the LOTTO. BTW, that is my idea of a great date. Snuggling on the couch afterwards of course! :)
I am also very diverse and enjoy way too much to capture it all here. Plus there is so much to do in San Diego, the city/county makes it easy to always be engaged in something interesting and fun. The summer usually finds me at Petco Park with the Padres, the Del Mar Racetrack (I love the horses) and the beach (I like Solana Beach). Oh not to forget the North County Fair! Nothing like a foot long corn dog covered in mustard followed by the Ferris Wheel! :) In the Fall I am a big Chargers fan and love drives up the coast to Newport to shop PCH. I cardio 5 days a week, swim or yoga on the weekends and fit in long walks with my dogs. I do love the Ashtanga Yoga Center in Encinitas if there are any yogis out there! When I had it it was nice, but I enjoyed all the other things much more. Like spending time with friends, my son, seeing and exploring the world around me. Ideal woman for me to meet is someone who wants to laugh, whom I want to make laugh (so we laugh at lots of the same stuff), some basic physical attraction both ways, and has a positive energy. God, I sound like a hippie, don't I ... but I have a profound love for bacon (the real stuff, turkey bacon is sad).
Friends would probably describe me as intelligent, kind & fun - at least that's what they tell me. I hope they haven't been lying; I do have some very terrific friends. I'm 45 : but have the goofiness of a 20 year old, the career of a 50 year old, the curiosity of a 10 year old, the knowledge of what I like and what I don't of an 80 year old.
Hopefully, you love music half as much as I do; music is a ridiculously large part of my life. My iPhone playlists are downright schizophrenic. I play in & sing with a band that plays around town a lot, and since I work at home (computer programming, zzzz) music is the bedrock of my social life. I love living within 3 blocks of the beach, even though only get down there about 2-3 times a week. I need to run more now just to maintain & counterbalance all of the rich cooking I've been doing since I've upped the ante on my cooking ... come for my seared tuna, stay for my twice-baked potato. I love most any foods, though nothing can compete with cheese & bacon (bacon reference #2, I sound obsessed).
Having a successful enough career as a 1-man computer operation, it's afforded me free time, which has spoiled me for ever going into an office, or for doing too many things in life that I don't want to. That can be both a good and a bad thing.
I'm ashamed how much I love DVR (but I can be in a committed relationship with a woman with TiVO instead, I'm open) ... although I just freely admitted it, so I can't be that ashamed. I really do love to read. So I'm usually listening to music, reading, cooking or watching TV - and quite often doing 2 of those 4 things at once. And news flash: I JUST GOT A GOLDEN RETRIEVER PUPPY. I should post a photo or 2 of him here, but I shouldn't take credit here for his cuteness.
I considered myself extremely athletic but I seemed to have given up basketball and distance running. I've gotten a good head-start on old persons sports like tennis & golf (got to a 4-handicap, back up to 7 now if you're a fellow golf idiot - lots of hours spent there that I'll never get back). Since I moved to Encinitas a few years ago, I've become a fiend for walking places. I seem to only drive to music gigs and otherwise live a relatively gasoline-independent existence (when it's around $4 a gallon, that's nice). I really am starting to believe that living far from your workplace is bad for the soul.
As for my ideal match, I don't have physical parameters, but overall fitness is kind of important. I've got to say that I'm not religious at all and quite liberal; religion doesn't matter to me one way or another, it can make for interesting conversation as long as both people are open-minded. I'd have a hard time falling for a real conservative, although crazier things have happened, I suppose.
Just meeting a woman who likes to laugh, even if it doesn't develop into a full-fledged "relationship" (oy, what a word), is a great thing in life. People look better when they smile, manage to be themselves and don't take life overly seriously. I've definitely got physical turn-ons like anybody else, but smiling and laughing and a joie de vive (sorry I don't know French so I'm probably misspelling that) make anybody more beautiful.

I make just a short commute every day from my home in Encinitas to my job as a medical consultant in La Jolla. I really enjoy my work, but I don't let it consume me. When I'm off the clock, I try to let professional concerns melt away so that I can be fully present and enjoy the little things in life.
I have three kids: a fifteen year old basketball star at Carlsbad High, my thirteen year old daughter, and twelve year old baseball playing son. They live with my ex in Carlsbad, but I'm very active in their lives. They're why I moved out here in the first place.
I enjoy going to movies & sporting events...I'd like to see some of the museums in town, go to Sea World & the Zoo. I think a weekend skiing is just about a perfect getaway.
