Date a soulmate from Culver City, United States. I am very easygoing and I’m looking for someone who is the same. Chemistry is an unexplained phenomenon, and sometimes looking for it too hard can make things more difficult. Happy accidents sometimes happen.
I can be shy at first, but I open up quickly around outgoing, communicative, friendly people. I can feed off another person’s laughter and passion. I also enjoy the benefits of quiet time alone with a special person. I believe a good relationship should start with a good friendship and then develop into something deeper and more meaningful through patience and hard work.
I live a very healthy lifestyle, going to the gym, biking, inline skating and eating healthy, I do indulge in guilty pleasures now and then.
I like to explore new places and want to learn more about the world around me, especially with someone who shares the same curiosity and enthusiasm.
I have gone through many phases in my life, but it’s time for the next phase and I want to share that with someone who likes to experience life’s adventures with laughter. A sense of humor is essential for a healthy relationship to last a lifetime.
Meet a man from Culver City, United States. When people in LA meet me, they usually guess that I'm from New York or somewhere on the east coast. Although strictly speaking this is true because I was born in New York, I actually grew up in Portland. I've been in Southern California for a while now and what I love about LA is the crazy diversity of things to do and people to meet. As the brilliant Carey McWilliams wrote over 70 years ago, living in LA is like having " a ringside seat at the circus."
Before moving here I alternated between places where you have to shovel your car out of the snow and places where the sun shines 12 months out of the year: I lived in Boston, then San Diego, then Chicago, then LA. I think I want to stick with nice weather for awhile.
I've worked in a lumber yard making floor tiles in Oregon, been a roadie for a band in Boston (no it was not Aerosmith), driven cross country in Australia to see the Syndey Opera House and the Great Barrier Reef, and broken a bike helmet mountain biking in Moab, Utah. (Yes I've also seen every episode of the original Star Trek series, but no I don't have any action figures--well ok, I have one action figure but only because somebody at work gave it to me for Secret Santa).
I'm a recovering corporate lawyer but for the past several years I've worked for a few different internet startups.
* Celebrity I most resemble, according to sweet, charming, perceptive ex-girlfriends: Mark Ruffalo
* Celebrity I most resemble, according to mean ex-girlfriends: the Del Taco Guy
I am always curious, love to read, love to try new things.
Favorite fruits: strawberries, cherries, grapes, nectarines. What is it with mangoes? Why does everyone love them so much?
* Knowing the difference between "you're" and "your." [JUST TO CLARIFY: Don't worry -- I am not going to correct YOUR grammar and I'm not going to judge you for typos or something. In fact I don't normally make a point of emphasizing my knowledge of basic grammar. I'm only bringing it up at all because so many women on this site specifically list this among their criteria, so I thought I better address it.]
I'm like going to see Classical music (Colburn School, LA Phil, and lots of other out of the way places) but nobody in LA seems to go that much.
Favorite awesome untranslatable words:
Tingo (Easter Island): “the act of taking objects one desires from the house of a friend by gradually borrowing all of them.”
Tartle (Scottish): "the act of hesitating while introducing someone because you’ve forgotten their name"
Ilunga (Tshiluba -- Southwest Congo): "a person who is ready to forgive and forget any first abuse, tolerate it the second time, but never forgive nor tolerate on the third offense."
Jayus (Indonesian): “A joke so poorly told and so unfunny that one cannot help but laugh”
I'm looking to meet someone who
1) is curious about the world, and always wants to learn new things
2) is mostly sweet-natured but has been known to have a temper (but yet does not throw temper tantrums)
3) is cool with going to the used book store AS WELL AS the shoe store (is there such a thing as a purse store?)
4) wants to go hike Topanga Canyon in the afternoon, get all dirty and sweaty, come home, and then dress up to go see the symphony at Disney Concert Hall that night
Date someone special from Culver City, United States. .......having fun? Kids get a summer vacation, why can't we forget about work and careers for a while?
Before we get started there are a few things you should know about me -
- I've never been a rejected contestant on "The Bachelorette."
- My parties do not attract D-List celebrities. Or the paparazzi.
- I was once mistaken for Danny Elfman at a Jerry's Deli. (During my long hair days.)
- If you like Pina Coladas and getting caught in the rain..... then you probably like cheesy song lyrics and movie quotes. (Good.)
- I use punctuation in my text messages.
Here's the deal - I'm a relatively drama-free (no crazy ex's, no stints in rehab), career oriented guy; domesticated and fully housebroken. Fairly useful around the house (car and computer repairs may require outside assistance.) I've been involved in film and animation for 20 odd years, so my hobbies generally skew towards movies and music. Also a bit of an architecture geek. Usually, I'm a jeans and nice shirt kind of guy, but will don a suit for special occasions or speaking engagements.
I realize that there are other things in life besides work. There's plenty going on in my life, but I have the most fun when I can share those moments with friends - or even better - bring someone else along for the ride.
You don't need to be a nerd or a geek, but knowing the basic difference between Capt. Kirk and Han Solo is a plus. So, if this bit made you chuckle, and you are open minded, are willing to laugh (at bad jokes, at me, and at the little absurdities life throws our way), have a sense of adventure, and want to explore L.A., then give me a shout and let's have some fun this summer..........
