Having read through quite a few profiles by now, I've realized that many people are describing themselves with the same qualities and there's a recurring theme for qualities in a partner. I won't pretend to want something different or try to make up some fanciful notions about love and relationships to simply stand out from the crowd - that is not to say though that I don't have fanciful notions about love and relationships. There are a few things that stand out for me, however.
I really am a down-to-earth person who likes to meet new people and can get along with most anyone. My favorite people however are those that are fellow "laid backers" who never make anyone feel out of place. I love to explore everything - everything ranging from my backyard to a new restaurant to a cave in New Zealand. I am intelligent, I have a great sense of humor, I'm exceptionally honest, and I care about the world. My interests are too varied to list them all. If you have something you're into chances are I will find something valuable in it that I can enjoy as well. Everyone has something to bring to the table.
I'm looking for someone who enjoys finding new things. I'm fairly well traveled and I would like to find someone who has seen, continues to see, or has ambitions to see some more of the world. I enjoy being the tour guide, being the "touree" (I made that word up) when you are the expert, and finding a great new place that neither of us knows about. Sometimes I like to rough it and camp or stay in hostels when I travel but I also enjoy living it up in a nice hotel. I've been on trips for a month at a time by myself in another country and that's fantastic. Some of the best experiences I've ever had involved traveling from place to place alone and meeting people who were doing the same. It's great to be independent when I travel and I don't need a travel-buddy but it is more fun if you're sharing. In addition to meeting a fellow or aspiring traveler, I'd like to meet someone who will try anything once. It's completely alright if, in the end, you're not into it or are not good at it but at least give it a shot. I have this vision of the perfect girl in my head that my friends call the "kayak girl". She is an attractive, fit, girl, enjoying paddling in one of my kayaks, with her hair in a no-fuss ponytail and wearing a tank top. Not sure where that vision came from but it just about sums up what I'm looking for. Don't see the specifics of the "kayak-girl", see the general ideas. I'm attracted to young-minded people. If you've given in to your current age or are defined by it you may not be the right girl for me. I look forward to meeting people. If we end up being friends, that's great too. I do not necessarily believe that we can decide whether we are meant for each other in an hour. I think that because we expose so much of ourselves from the start on Match, many people sort of skip over the "getting to know each other" part, wrongly assuming that our profiles have said it all already and that the person we are meeting has to be "the one" in the first 15 minutes of meeting them. There has to be at least a spark of mutual attraction to continue on of course. I think I tend to seem a bit quiet or shy at first as I get to know someone and it sometimes gives people the wrong impression of me but once I open up, I'm anything but quiet and shy. I'd like to meet "the one" like everyone else and that's exactly why I'm here, but if the by-product of that search is some cool friends, that's great too.
