My life and ambitions are constantly changing... and while it is difficult to accept at times, there is good to be found in even the tragedies that touch our lives... In October of last year I laid to rest my best friend. He died five minutes after we finished playing tennis together. He leaves behind a wife, a 1 year old son and parents who just cannot wrap their minds or emotions around the reality of outliving their child. The suddeness of his death, grieving the loss and trying to write a eulogy that condenses a 40 plus year life into 5 minutes has unequivocally altered my priorities for the better. I would be lying if said otherwise. I am now far more attuned to my need/desire to make very real and human connections and far less excited about the prospect of proverbially “burning the candle on both ends and the middle.”
THAT SAID, when it comes to cold cereal, I am completely faithful to Cheerios! I love my kids, pun too much, genuinely believe in God (I am a devout minimalist), think Lago de Atitlan in Guatemala is a wonder, consider Sedona a second home, co-founded the 2nd largest free concert series in the country, wrote a book on teaching blind skiers, renovate historic buildings, was a Top Gun, am a former Economics Professor and just for fun... drive a Prius (really). Of course, other than my children, the above is more "what I have done" than "who I am." While I am not a tree hugger, I love this planet and want it to be there for my kids. I enjoy live theater, golf, ice skating (really), hiking and SCUBA diving. I have never bungie jumped. That said, I have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro and want to do it again (R U Ready?). The view from 19,341 feet is even more amazing when you know that a safari is waiting to start at the bottom I go on reading binges (10 books in 20 days) and then don't read for weeks... I love to cook and almost every dinner can be made better by a good glass of wine. For that matter, almost every meal is made better when ingredients come from your own garden. Gardening cultivates patience and faith As much as I love my work, I love my family many times more... Sometimes the highpoint of my day is just sitting and watching my son sleep... It is beautifuI! I guess that makes me a guy looking for a woman who loves her family as much as I love mine and who wants me to share her life as much as she shares mine....
