,,,,I'm divorced and don't use my bike as an escape as I have a pretty good life as it is. I wish I could explain why I enjoy riding. Maybe I'm a control freak and it's the feeling of being at the helm and the captain of the ship at all times. Whether it's a local jaunt, a weekend cruise or a cross-country ride, there's something unexplainable about riding motorcycles. Yes, I know it can be dangerous as my loved ones have constantly reminded me........ I'm not into 420. It just doesn't do it for me. Yes. I'd mind if you did it. So don't. No smoking. Thanks. I remember, my voice coach telling me that on my first class. I do enjoy singing, karaoke mostly, and have participated in a number of contests in and around the bayarea. I've also volunteered at senior centers during the holidays, and truly nothing gives me more satisfaction than to see the smile on the faces of these people who love to hear the classic songs during the holiday season. Perhaps that weekend morning sleeping in past the point of guilt or that day you get up before the sun rises to start out on a great road trip. Maybe it's just that companionable silence between friends and lovers as you walk down the street. There are a lot of things I cannot live without. They are coffee, books, NPR and my running shoes.
Mostly what I cannot live without is a woman to share life's experiences with, the wonderful blissful ones, the mundane daily ones and the tough ones.
I'll never jump out of an airplane, or be a mountain climber or a snowboarder, but I really like hiking and being in nature. I have not camped in quite some time (though I do like it) but have made it to the top of Half Dome twice (not the face, but up the backside like everyone else). I have also felt very travel-starved these past years but remedied that with a trip to Amsterdam and Paris.
I am passionate about my twelve year old daughter (I see her on alternate weekends).
I love my family, living in the bay area and my piano - played since I was a kid.

Some of my favorite authors and books are by Annie Proulx, Cormac McCarthy, Frank McCourt, Joan Didion's non-fiction, Michael Chabon, just read To Kill A Mockingbird again (always liked that book!).
