I'm originally from England, but (luckily) have found my way to the Bay Area. For work, I'm an IT Director for a very successful media company. I have a great group of friends and meet them at our local hangouts pretty regularly.
I love to travel, and find it necessary for perspective, not to mention it's just good for the soul. I have family all over the world and travel to see them as often as I can. I'm also a history buff and love a good debate. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fan of arguing, but a good intellectual debate. I'm looking for someone with a *good* sense of humor and a sense of adventure. I love to laugh and making others laugh.
I went to school at a top tier school in the North East, but moved to California in 1996. I really miss the sub-zero temperatures in the winter, and waking up at 5 am to shovel the hill of ice the snow plow put in front of the drive way. You basically have to hibernate for 5 months out of the year. Obviously, my plans changed and I ended up settling here in the Bay Area. California has such a different mentality than most of the places that I have lived but there's no other place that I would rather be.
My career has kept me pretty busy throughout the years and I work a lot. I am at a point now where I am trying to find a good balance in my life. There are literally thousands of things to do in the Bay Area that I haven't done or haven't done enough of. This is where you come in. Yes, I am using you for my own benefit. :)
I'm not really looking for a "partner in crime" as I'm not planning on knocking off any liquor stores any time soon. All jokes aside, I lost my wing man last year to an amazing woman. And I'd like a shot at something like that...What I'm looking for is a friend, a lover and someone whom I would ultimately like to spoil and see a future with. I ultimately would like a family and am committed to a strong family unit.

I'm always interested in something -- whether it's a new exhibit I read about at a local museum, the fact that the whales are migrating and it's the perfect time for a whale watch, a newly opened restaurant, a great indie movie, or most often, a band I like (or think I might like) playing a local venue.
If it's not something I'm doing, it's something to talk about -- the book or magazine article I just read, politics, new joke I heard, etc.
I'm big on music -- I play guitar (and sing badly), seek out new indie bands to fill the iPod, go to shows, sometimes even try to write songs. Would love to find someone I can share new music with, who can clue me in to new music.
I'm more of a dive bar type person than the hip club, and more of a hang out with a beer and play pool or talk than a dancing to loud music type person. (Though every so often some fancy cocktails or clubbing is ok.)
I like sports -- playing or watching -- always up for a baseball game, or to go hiking or play some tennis or whatever.
I'm also a big reader -- usually have 2 or 3 books going at the same time, plus Entertainment Weekly, of course. Mostly read classic literature (admitted book nerd) but also a lot of non-fiction and whatever interests me. Also always interested in meeting someone to talk about the latest book or to recommend stuff to me.
Family is important to me. I have some family back east, but also love spending time with my brother's family, most importantly my nephews and niece, who live in the area.
