I would love to sit here and type a wonderful testimony to myself, but who would believe that I walk on water or fly faster than a speeding bullet? Of course those things are all true, really. To best describe me, I think my best friend for the last 26 years said it best when she said, ?You really are the boy next door, a real boy scout.? For the most part this statement is true, but then again, life is too short to always be a saint!
I am going to be the first man on this site to publicly admit that I may not know exactly what I am doing. I was married to my high school sweetheart so I never was or ever will be a player and frankly, the thought of toying with someone's emotion is really not that appealing. I know, sit down before you faint. A man admitted he doesn't know what he is doing and is being honest. The sky must be falling but I really do believe in honesty and communication. These two traits are absolute necessities in what I look for in a relationship because I feel without them a relationship doesn't stand much of a chance succeeding. I have never been one to shy away from hearing the truth and I respect those who can tell you honestly what they think. How can anything ever be fixed if you don't know what is wrong? As far as what else I am looking for in a relationship is best summed up like Potter Stewarts quote, "hard-core pornography" was hard to define, but that "I know it when I see it" or in my case, when you feel like you have known that person forever.
It?s also important for me to state that I am the father of two wonderful children that mean the world to me. I have joint custody of them and they are one of the most important parts of my life. My whole life has been built around them up to this point, but now as they get older, they are becoming more independent. They will always be one of the most important parts of my life but their independence allows me some freedom to pursue other things, one of which is a long term committed relationship.
