Date single man from California, United States. I'm easy going, reliable, trustworthy and caring. Being a Taurus, I can also be stubborn but loyal to a fault to my friends and am also very passionate about the things that matter to me. No kids of my own but I do have a 3 year old granddaughter that means the world to me. I'm a sports fan, and my front room could be considered a "man cave" as I have my Raiders and SF Giants memorabilia on display right alongside family pictures. Music is also very important to me, and my office could be considered a Beatlemaniac's room. This is the extent of my "toys" as I'm not a guy that is in to possessions. There is the old saying "He who dies with the most toys wins", but in my outlook, you're still dead so what do the toys matter?
I currently work handling personnel for a business in Merced, but have been a radio dj and sheriff's deputy in the younger days.
I realize this is a lot to write but like everyone else, I have a history and that's made me who I am today. Whenif the time is right, it's open for discussion.
NON-SMOKER is THE most important trait as that killed both of my parents and almost took my younger brother too. If you smoke, please don't go any further as I will not even consider a smoker in my life.
Being 6-5, I am drawn to tall women (5-8 ) and you have to have a sense of humor or else there is no way you're going to be able to put up with me. I'm not looking for someone who wants to hang out in bars or clubs but on the other hand who also wouldnt mind a stop at one if we are out and the mood strikes.
I'm content to kick back at home and watch tv or a movie or take a walk around the neighborhood.
Some people may look at that as boring, but I did the nightly lounge hangout routine when I was younger and thankfully moved past it. You'll likely find me now in the recliner watching the Giants play, reading, or being a cushion for a feline.. Oh yes, she must love animals as I have two cats who are basically "my kids" and they're the ones who really run this house!
The key words at this point in my life are "Slow And Steady" as I'm in the process of ending an almost 9 year marriage and I'm not looking to dive back in to a serious relationship.. been there, done that.
I'm looking for someone to get to know on a slow basis and starting out as penpals or just an occasional dinner and movie date sounds good at this point as i'm sure nobody wants to feel pressure early on in a relationship. I know I'm certainly not ready for that and and thats not even in the cards right now. It has to be able to grow on its own rather than being steered in one direction or another.
Long distance doesn't work either. If you're not within about 40 miles of the Merced-Atwater area, I have to say no and I'm not looking to relocate either. I see where people from the East Coast are leaving messages but again, only those local to me will get any consideration as I don't believe in long distance relationships.

I was born in Minn. raised in North Dakota on a cattle ranch and ended up in Ca in 1985 and was going to spend a year here to check it out, 26 yrs, 3 children and 1 grandson later here I am. I like most all the outdoor activities, watch mainly sports and a little news when I'm laying around (which is almost never) go to the gym 3-5-7 days a week and try to eat right. A little about myself:
I was a member of "Match.com" many years ago and again about a year ago. I actually met someone on Match back in 2004, and fell in love. Unfortunately, that relationship did not survive. I tried Match again about a year ago, but I don't think the timing was good for me. So, I thought I would give Match another try.
I am fortunate to have retired from a long law enforcement career back in December 2009. Financially, I do not need to work. I have done some volunteer work with the Red Cross. I also have a home on 5 acres out in Wilton (a rural southern portion of Sac County), which at times can keep me busy.
I have two daughters, one 18 and the other is 33 (I started young;-). I also have two grandchildren. My 18 year daughter lives with her mother in Santa Rosa. My oldest daughter and grandchildren live in Texas. Yes, my ex does live in Texas. ;-)
I had the opportunity to travel Europe many years ago when I was in the Air Force. Now that I am retired, I would like to see the rest of the world. I would like to find someone to travel with me. Is that someone you?

I hope the following does not come off wrong, but I have received some emails that caused me to update my profile and add this paragraph. Although my profile is relatively comprehensive, there are likely questions you may want to ask. I am 53 years old and my life story is a bit more than I want to publish on the internet/Match. I am happy to answer/respond to a reasonable amount of emailed questions. However, I am not interested in long series of email communications (i.e. - Pen Pals). If we are interested in learning more about one another, it is my opinion we need to speak on the phone and eventually meet in person (once the comfort level is there). To me the phone is much better medium of communication than email. We can hear the other's voice and all that goes along with speaking to someone (i.e. inflection, delayed responses, etc..). The world is full of weird people and I understand the need to be cautious. If either of my daughters were on Match (they are not), I would certainly want them to be cautious. I will be happy to supply my cell phone number if it makes you feel more comfortable. Again, I hope the preceding paragraph does not come off wrong.
