Date someone special from California, United States. Smart, funny, fit, and kind seeks smart, funny, fit, and kind -- all the rest is negotiable. I'm a creative entrepreneur, successful at a couple of things, a world traveler, good cook, reader, music lover, and fan of sunshine, good dogs, friendship, and warm hearts. I've lived in a number of places around the world, I like people of all kinds, and I don't have prejudices or a lot of preconceptions about who I'd like to meet. So say hey and let's have a cup of tea and see what happens.
I have a website where you can get a lot of insight into what sort of guy I am -- so if you like my smile, send me an email, and I'll share that rather than type for hours here. It's a better window into me, anyway.
Meet single man from California, United States. I'm eclectic, but occasionally predictable and paradoxical at the same time... if that makes any sense. For example... I am originally from Texas but am a card carrying liberal who prefers Cardinal(s) to Longhorns.
I am in search of a companion with whom to enjoy a few of my favorite activites...tarpon or almost anything big that will rise to a fly, Haleakala or Half Dome at sunrise, Air Races, 14th to 21st century classical music, 5 Star Hotels or Class V Rapids, pinot noir from Burgundy or Oregon, frisbee with my cattle dog, Bill Bryson, Mark Twain, H.L. Menken, H. Bosch, G. Seurat and S. Dali., and way too many movies that include Bruce Willis and/or Samurai swords.
If you have a good sense of humor (you'll need it), enjoy a wide range of music including classical but exluding house, hip-hop or rap, love the outdoors and truly CRAZY dogs, can hold your own in scrabble and aren't big on religion, Fox News or anything dogmatic, we may have a lot in common.
Date men and women from California, United States. OK, let’s face it, anybody can write whatever they want in their profile, but none of it matters if that special chemistry is lacking. I’d much rather be chatting with you in a coffee shop, but since we have to start this way, here goes.
People would describe me as affectionate, a good listener, analytical, perceptive, sensitive, a bit more of an introvert than an extravert, and a person of high integrity. I pursue the finer things rather than the simple things in life. Although I live in the suburbs I am more of an urban person at heart. For me a perfect day would be checking out an art museum or going on an architecture tour, then dining at an upscale restaurant and finishing the evening at a jazz club. If I went camping I would probably be bored.
I have two wonderful school-age children that live with me 50% of the time (every other week). When they are with me they are the highlight of my life. Luckily I have a good working, drama-free, co-parenting relationship with my ex-wife. This allows us to make decisions that are purely in the interest of the children’s wellbeing.
I am very fortunate to have achieved a relatively high level of financial security. My career, working on the cutting edge of technology is challenging and stimulating, but I have a variety of interests outside of work and am not dependent only on my job for fulfillment. Having reached the point where I am now I am focused on a future that provides a work/life balance with ample opportunity to spend more time with the people that I love and doing the activities I enjoy.
I’ve traveled to many of the world’s great destinations including China, the Great Barrier Reef and Paris. But somehow I’ve never made it to Italy, so I am going to save that one to experience with someone special. My favorite relaxation getaway would be to a sandy beach in a warm climate where the water is warm, calm, and clean, and the cuisine is exquisite. The French Riviera comes to mind.
Although I enjoy travel immensely, more and more I am feeling content to be at my home in Palo Alto using my chef’s kitchen to prepare and enjoy great meals with friends, or relaxing in my backyard pool and spa. Summer is my favorite season and I am the happiest when I am outdoors enjoying the California sun, whether it is going on a 40 mile bike ride or gardening in my back yard.
I enjoy watching movies, and off-beat, neo-noir, quirky films appeal to me much more than the typical Hollywood “blockbuster”. But cooking is probably my greatest passion in life, so much so that I am the organizer of a cooking group that meets periodically at my house where we cook entire meals together, each time around a specific theme.
I am looking for a woman who is at a similar stage in life. Someone who is smart and accomplished. Someone who can challenge my thinking and show me perspectives I had not considered. I am looking for someone with varied interests, some overlapping with mine, the rest being a source of enrichment.
Finally, I am looking for someone who shares my passion for cooking, someone who, like me, finds shopping for, cooking and enjoying a meal together a great way to spend a day.
Meet a soulmate from California, United States. I enjoy being creative whether it be at work where I like to develop new ideas, or at home, where I like to compose music or work on land scaping or remodeling projects.
I think it is part of our nature to want to live our lives with another person.
I don't take problems very seriously and always try carry a positive attitude
Date a man from California, United States. Looking for a new fun relationship with a great lady.
Seeking a bright, honest, straight forward, politically aware (leaning to the liberal left), passionate (not just talking sexually here), non-religious and FUN person!
I'm separated with two great kids who will soon be off to college.
Not quite sure how it will all work out, but it will be a fun adventure which I'd like to share.
Meet people from California, United States. I am a lucky guy in many respects, and have much to be grateful for. At the top of the list is my son, who is the best thing I've ever been associated with. I love my job, live in a great place, have many friends and am healthy and fit. What I don't have, and would like to have, is a partner who is also my best friend, who nourishes my soul.
I have fairly simple needs. I enjoy great conversation--it's a sign of a keen, curious intellect. I love being outdoors and being active, most notably hiking and backpacking. I am moved by mountains and streams and canyons and deserts where the only sounds are the ones the animals make. Some of my favorite moments are quiet and contemplative; a glass of wine on the patio as the day winds down, or a great book in a shady spot and a comfortable chair. I find fulfillment in lots of ways, and most of them don't cost a dime.
My extravagant desires mostly involve travel. I want to go to Australia and spend a month exploring. I want go to London at Christmastime and blow money on room service. I want to drive around Europe drinking wine (not simultaneously) and spending leisurely afternoons in charming bistros owned by people who make their own bread. You get the idea.
I enjoy courtship. Both the old-fashioned kind: dressing up for dinner at a nice restaurant, for example; and the modern kind: texting each other clever, flirty come-ons when we're apart. I like playful banter of all kinds; it sets a mood of fun and relaxation and reveals your sense of humor.
I admire women who can combine elegance and informality. A ballcap in the afternoon, a beautiful dress after dark.
Kindness trumps every other attribute. I'm as attracted by beauty as much as the next guy, but what really moves me is a woman with grace, and a generous, nurturing spirit.
Like a lot of us here, I suspect, I didn't expect to be single at this stage of my life. But here I am, and looking forward to new possibilities. I'm hoping to find a woman who wants to walk with me, literally and figuratively, toward a sunny, verdant place.
Date someone special from Palo Alto, United States. [[N.B.: I'll be on a backpacking trip from September 9th-16th on the Rae Lake Loop in King's Canyon National Park. I hope your summer is going as well as mine!]]
So my idea of a perfect first date is a "Play Date." Head out and do something active — hiking, biking rock climbing (inside or out) — and then grab a burger and beer afterwards. Maybe a bit ambitious, but still, now you know something about me even if that's a "second date" ... :-)
I'm active and love doing anything outdoors. My primary activities are hiking, bicycling and rock climbing but I'm always open to doing new things. In my group of friends I'm often referred to as The Cruise Director since I'm constantly organizing one social event or another -- usually involving outdoors activities. My absolute favorite thing to do in the world is to go out and do something fun and exhausting during the day and then get together afterwards with friends over good food and wine. Food tastes so good after a day of play!
My friends are very important to me; I count myself lucky to have known some of them for twenty years, and others for as little as two. I am secure and "in touch" with my inner emotional landscape. And I'm good at seeing others emotions. I'm looking forward to a wonderful life, hopefully including love, commitment, sharing and eventually a family. more from life:
While I am athletically inclined, I'm not a workout freak and I enjoy other activities: cooking, wine tasting, gardening, writing, throwing parties for friends and the usual array of music, art, movies and theater.
I took a year off work [in the computer software field] to reconnect with my life. I did lots of bike riding, rock climbing, reading, and generally just having fun. Eventually I decided that I wanted to redirect my career into Computational Biology in order to help work on problems like cancer and aging. I've taken a ton of classes in Biology, Chemistry and Physics and I just finished a course in Molecular Genetics. It's a long-term move and in the meal time I appreciate the amazing opportunities I have.
In the Random Tidbit Department: I'm a morning person, I'm a 6 (loyalist) on the Enneagram scale, I love This American Life with Ira Glass on NPR, I've organized formal parties for 500 people, gotten into trouble with the grounds crew for unauthorized landscaping modifications involving 112 plastic pink lawn flamingos and I have a mischievous sense of humor that gets me in trouble with the PC police.I think that being able to `play together' is one of the most important factors in a relationship. After that it's all preferences ... and `toleration' as one of my married friends put it ... :-) It's important that you have a positive attitude and love yourself and your life -- if you don't adore yourself how can anyone else? :-) While you're grounded and stable, deep down you're also still a kid at heart. You look at life as the funnest adventure anyone could have ever invited you on and you still know how to giggle at small pleasures. You have friends you've known for years and they are an integral part of your life. You understand that relationships are inherently about being brave enough to trust -- yourself and another. You believe in honesty and facing difficult situations. You want to be part of something larger than yourself. You're smart, athletic, creative and sensual. You like conversations about life, the impact of cloning on society, the relevance of blueberries in pancakes. The phrase `art is an attitude' means something to you but still cracks you up. You like the outdoors as much as a really nice meal in a fabulous restaurant. You cry at sad movies; puppies and babies make you smile. You like to laugh at yourself and enjoy the inherent silliness and wonderful nature of the world around us. Heck, if we're both doing on-line dating we've got to start off with laughter! A perfect first date? Something active! :-)

Date a soulmate from United States. Hi, I'm a sassy southern belle who likes to have fun. I love dancing, music, good conversation, museums, theater, travel, fine dining, books, being with friends, health and lots more. I workout regularly to keep myself in shape and I'm not too embarrassed to be seen in my bathing suit in public! I am flattered when a man sends me a Match "wink" or becomes a "new interest", but I feel it's too impersonal for me to answer. I'm looking for a happy, successful, tall (5'10 and over), handsome, gentleman, fifties to sixties. Someone loyal, honest, communicative, sophisticated. I can't resist a guy who can make me laugh! But chemistry is most important and so you just never know! A take charge kind of guy.. A guy who is good at chasing because I am hard to catch! I am looking for courtship. I know how to treat a man and appreciate a man who knows how to treat a lady.
