Date single man from Novato, United States. Ladies, here’s the deal: My wife of 35 years and mother of our two grown children passed away over three years ago after a long illness. I live on a wonderful semi-rural property outside of Novato that is like a park -- however am open to other possibilities. I am recently retired from a rewarding and slightly unusual career and am now looking forward to what could be our best years.
Although I’ve been happy until now (including the ups and downs) I’m very much looking forward to seeing what the future brings. I’ve got a lot of energy and now have the time and means to make the most of it.
I have many interests and hobbies. You could probably say I’m a lifelong learner with an insatiable curiosity about almost everything from “How does this work?” to “What the heck is a capybara?” I dabble or am serious about: photography, music, writing, kayaking, fishing, travel, and gardening. I also cook (I’m no five star chef!). I’m a total water guy and love all activities around the water. Beaches are good. Boats have always played a big part in my life.
Have traveled a bit both in this country and beyond (Europe, Far East, Mexico, etc) and look forward to having more time to travel.
I grew up on the East Coast outside of New York (rural Long Island) and went to school In Buffalo. Was very much the Liberal academic in those days. Decided on a change and traveled to “sunny” California during the hippie era. Fell in love with San Francisco and the Bay Area immediately and that has never changed.
What has changed, though, is my politics. I’m much more conservative these days (although not crazy conservative – more common sense conservative). I like to think of it as gaining wisdom along the way. Many of my friends are liberal (how could it be otherwise in the BA?), so I’m open to all points of view. However, if you’re a woman over fifty with a picture of yourself dancing around with a blissful look on your face while twirling a colorful ribbon over your head and describe yourself as “still searching for my inner child”, you’re probably not the one for me.
If you find me in my natural habitat I’m usually in jeans and a T shirt. If you clean me up, however, I’m pretty presentable in polite company. I'm always ready to experience new things whether it's the Garlic Festival, Blues by theBay, the latest Science and Technology exhibit or a hot new restaurant. Finding great out of the way places is as fun as the most popular.
I’m a big animal lover. Love all animals. I just lost my hiking buddy, Zoe, a chocolate lab, so I’m down to my two cats. I could talk to Zoe and she seemed to enjoy listening. The cats on the other hand ...
As far as body types, curvy is good. (You, not me). I’m not attracted to skinny minnies.
Which brings me to why I’m here. I’m very much eager to get to know you (whoever you may be). Meeting for coffee, lunch, dinner or whatever is always fun. Even if it goes nowhere, it’s interesting. At the moment I’m just enjoying “dating”. Over the next year or so, however, I’m hoping to find a new life friend and partner. I’m looking for someone to share that physical and social intimacy that is such a large part of what makes life wonderful.
I’m easy to get along with, independent, fun, a true gentleman and steady as the day is long.
