Date a man from California, United States. I'm still working on the golf game (8 years and counting) – what a humbling and yet fascinating activity. I enjoy live theatre (watching, not acting), travel (business allowed me to travel around the world, literally, several times – now I get to travel for pleasure, first was Africa, then China and Tibet followed by Egypt and Jordan, then China again, Costa Rica in 2010 and Nova Scotia last year.) Next travel for pleasure will be back to Crete to visit cousins. A trip to see the aurora borealis in central Alaska and a trip to South America are on the list without dates attached.
I enjoy cooking as a shared activity, eating out, walking in the countryside or at the beach, Bed & Breakfast weekends, relaxing in front of a roaring fire, having new adventures, listening to blues, '50s R & B and show tunes, reading (highly eclectic - fiction, non-fiction, history, and biographies), and an occasional game of Scrabble. In a past life I enjoyed flying airplanes (I was an instrument rated pilot but have not flown for 6 years - except for some right seat time in a DC-3 and in a friend's Citation a year or so ago).
It goes without saying that good interpersonal chemistry tops my want list. Beyond that I am looking for someone who has lived enough of her life to learn who she is and is comfortable with the answer.
My ideal partner will have a sense of humor and a willingness to explore new adventures, she will be relatively local (I'm open to hearing your definition of relatively local), will be able to enjoy togetherness but will also be comfortable being alone. She will have friends who describe her as very intelligent, interesting, complex, and a sincere and loyal friend. She will be a good listener and will be willing to invite me into her life (friends and family) at the same time as I invite her into mine.
I'm a good listener and communicator, or so I've been told, and I'm willing to invest time exploring a promising relationship.
The most important aspect of the relationship that I am looking for is when we can both say that we have fun together.
