If you look at my photos, I think you’ll see that my eyes tell the story – I’m a woman with a zest for life and an intention to live fully! I'm not hard to read, love to laugh, very bright and very funny (although not necessarily in an online dating profile!). I’m easy-going in some ways and very intense in others (as one should be)…open, honest and true to my word (as I hope are you)…and not afraid to love fully and work hard for things that are important to me. I bring passion, enthusiasm and tenacity to every endeavor - from the smallest (discovering a new jazz vocalist) to the most significant (closing the achievement gap in schools). I’ve been in LA since 2007 – having spent 27 years in Chicago before that. I used to be a tenured professor at a large state university. Now I’m an independent consultant working on projects related to children, families, and social policy. I'm also an artist - lyricist, writer, and musician - and would love to meet someone who shares that passion and inclination, or at least shares that appreciation.
My daughter (27) and son (23) live on the East Coast. I treasure them and applaud their independence, although sometimes it sucks that they’re so far away. Meet a woman from California, United States. A wise friend once said to me that there are two basic questions you should ask yourself if you are evaluating a relationship, whether it is a friendship, romance, or marriage: Is it fun? Is it interesting?
So, that is my goal and hope, to meet someone who can be fun and interesting to me, and myself to them.
The way this translates for me would be an intelligent man, with a great sense of humor, who is curious about the world around him, isn't afraid to try new things (like Thai food and NPR), and who is secure enough in his masculinity to accompany me to the occasional chick flick. I will in turn go to one professional football/basketball or hockey game per year. (Kidding, I will go to two.)

I'm quietly adventurous, generally an optimist. I'm kind, thoughtful and observant. I have a great sense of humor and love to laugh. If you make me laugh you get a star! I'm independent and straightforward and usually will say what is on my mind (diplomatically of course) but at the same time I always want to know what is on yours. I love all kinds of live performance...theater, music, dance. I think I was a torch singer in a past life but sadly not in this one. I have the gene of appreciation of the arts. I like to read and enjoy books that hook me and generally anything well written.
I like all kinds of foods. The company is always the best part of the meal.
I like to do all the things that most people like to do. I love the ocean. The first time I went to the ocean in northern Maine I was so moved by its beauty and force I cried. I love living near the mountains here. The beauty of them strikes me every time I see them. I enjoy travel and was awed by Italy and Spain.
