What is chemistry, really? I once dumped my extra leftover chemicals in the sink of my Chem 1A lab. Since light travels faster than sound, IРІР‚в„ўm pretty sure I saw the flash before I heard the poof. In any case itРІР‚в„ўs a good thing that no one got hurt. I am not making this up.
But this is not the kind of chemistry I am talking about. Instead I am referring to feeling intrigued, comfortable, connected, alive when weРІР‚в„ўre together. We really listen to each other and it feels safe to be honest and open. We have fun together, even doing mundane or silly things. ThereРІР‚в„ўs a sense of genuine caring and affection that has the potential to grow into passion. We admire each others' strength of character and ability to meet lifeРІР‚в„ўs challenges. We have good boundaries and we accept and respect our differences and flaws. We have letters of reference from our therapists and/or sponsors. Oh, wait! I can check those later if we get serious.
Chemistry, check! Now for compatibility. Do you also like walking, the outdoors, dancing, bicycling, or golf? Hey, so do I although my performance is not always up to par. How about pot lucks, barbeques, family groups, growth groups, costume parties, board games, travel (air, land or sea), camping, conversation, movies, theater, music, beaches, mountains, museums or at least some of these things? So do I! Compatibility, check!
