II'm routinely reminded by things like the weather here in San Diego, the fact that I can do whatever I want because my health is good that I am living a life that I have no idea why I deserve. Not a day goes by that I donРІР‚в„ўt figuratively pinch myself to make sure IРІР‚в„ўm actually living in what most would consider Paradise. I love good food, being self-sufficient, and learning new things as long as they don't involve math. I love almost anything to do with trees, water and mountains. And dogs. Travel? IРІР‚в„ўm game for just about anything but if given the choice to see the gorillas in Rwanda or spend a week in Las Vegas with a bagful of money, IРІР‚в„ўd vote for the gorillas, anyday. A manРІР‚в„ўs intelligence, the ability to take himself not-too-seriously, and knowing more than I do about what goes on under the hood of a car are attractive to me. A guy who knows his way around a wine list is definitely a plus.
Having grown up in the Midwest in a somewhat eccentric family I wouldn’t trade for anything, I appreciate humor and believe that it’s a large part of what makes the world go �round. I’m grateful to both enjoy traveling as well as being at home. Having lived in rural Oregon in the early �80’s, I’ve done the “back-to-the-land” thing and like to think that no one could call me finicky or high-maintenance. I’m not wild about crowds (a good baseball or football game are exceptions), shopping is low on my list of favorite things to do, and I’m not a fan of long telephone conversations (which may have something to do with the fact that I worked as an airline reservations agent during college, a job which appears to have warped my relationship with phones for life!) I try not to complain, as deep down, I know that just about whatever my problems are, they’re insignificant compared to many others’ problems in this world.
I suppose my Midwest upbringing has a lot to do with the fact that I’m compelled to contribute in some way, leaving the world a bit kinder and gentler than it would have been without my presence. I’m at the point in my life where I feel like the “dress rehearsal” is over and I’m doing my best to live my priorities.
I could rattle off a bunch of interests and activities that enliven me, but in the end, I believe that connecting with someone who brings out the best in me and for whom I bring out the best is where itРІР‚в„ўs at. Sounds simplistic, maybe, but the optimist in me believes itРІР‚в„ўs do-able. How about you?

I love traveling, and find the opportunity for long weekends in so many California locations, a great gift. I hope to do more traveling to other countries and actually settling in for a while and learning what day to day life is like there. I dream of exciting adventures around the world (not involving straying over boarders or confinement!) and enthusiastically look forward to experiencing the next thirty years!!!
