Date someone special from California, United States. Living in the Bay Area is undeniably awesome: great weather, food, people, and things to do. I've recovered from past workaholic ways to find a more balanced lifestyle that includes volunteering, performing improv comedy, reading and writing, listening to jazz, and spending time with friends.
I enjoy helping people with early stage projects—by providing advice, analysis and connections for motivated people who already have the desire to do something big, whether non-profit or for profit with a social component. Sometimes they give me money, and sometimes I give them money. :)
I'm more:
- Supportive than competitive
- Old school than New Age
- Strategic planner than charismatic visionary
- Motivated by responsibility than hedonism
- Listener than talker
- Hiker than camper
- Ivory tower than swanky penthouse
- Ecumenical than evangelical
YOU: Optimistic, intelligent, curious, artistic, keeping herself and the planet healthy. Engaged in making the world a better place, as a career or an important sideline. Appreciates both the science and the stories of the world and its people. Bonus points for speaking another language, liking jazz, travel and the outdoors.
In short: This kind, smart, creative, and generous (and humbler in person than profile) guy is looking for a partner to mutually provide challenge and support, perspective and insight. You view a relationship as an expansion of our horizons, not a contraction. Let’s share some great meals, lively shows, and deep conversation in favorite places, old and new, as we embark on a journey of discovery.
Meet a man from California, United States. Hi,
I am looking for someone that is easy-going, understanding, and has a great sense of humor.
Someone that enjoys the simple things in life (like going hiking, to the beach, road trips, concerts, going to the farmers market, etc.)
Are you her?
Date a soulmate from California, United States. I grew up in a small village in Switzerland before moving to the UK and then the Bay Area. Rural Switzerland was a wonderful place to grow up and I spent many happy hours exploring the countryside with my friends. Since then I've moved to more and more urban areas, but I still most enjoy being in the great outdoors and love to get away from cities and suburbia whenever I can. My dream house is in the countryside with a nice view, trees and greenery, but close enough to a major city that I don't feel isolated.
I enjoy learning how to do different things and am goal oriented. Activities that take time to figure out and have multiple dimensions to them have the most lasting appeal. I strive to excel at whatever I do and live for a challenge. I enjoy the learning and love to share and participate in that process with others. Over the years I've learnt to do a lot of interesting things, partly because I always wanted to be the cool Dad who knew lots of exciting things to do with the kids!
I will always be a work to live person. I have a great job and appreciate it, but work will very seldom take precedence over friends and family. I try hard to achieve a work/life balance and make sure that I always have time for life outside work.
I love to travel and see things from a different perspective. Growing up I went all over western Europe. Since moving to the US I have travelled around the western states quite a bit. Recently it's been Central America. I tend towards more remote and rugged destinations and prefer not to just follow the standard tourist path. I don't mind hiking for 5 days through the jungle to see some Mayan ruins!
Part of my nature is to build and fix things (so I'm a natural engineer!). I also have an artistic side (it runs in the family) and love to draw and design things. As a kid I always wanted to be able to build my own toys, now I could do just that. One of these days I'd like to design and build my dream house.
I come from a middle of the road, low drama family and that's the kind of setup I'm looking for. I've done a lot of exciting and very rewarding things over the years, and in fact I still get in a good amount of adventures, but I'd love to settle down a bit with someone special and make something even better together.
Things about you that I will like: being dependable and trustworthy, not taking yourself too seriously, being playful and mischievous, having things that you are passionate about (outside of work!), liking the great outdoors, loving to travel, wanting to start a family, being from or having lived abroad, speaking one or more foreign languages, having projects that you like to work on, being athletic and active, intelligence and imagination, having an artistic side, intellectual curiosity.
