Easy decisions: Watching/Listening to PBS over well, just about anything else. Putting on any music over Fox. Cary Grant and Meryl Streep over their contemporaries. Warm chocolate chip cookies and cold milk over the finest pastry. Jeeps over trucks. Wine over beer. Red over white. Great scotch over bourbon. Health and balance over recklessness. Responsibility over fast times. Spinach over broccoli. Saving over consumption. Wicked over Jersey Boys. Walking over running. Asia over Europe. Sense over sensibility. Chemo over going to the beach. The wilderness over the city and the oceans over mountains. Thunderstorms and lightening over foggy mornings. A lab or shep by my feet over small lap dogs. Well-worn jeans and a polo over my finest Brooks Brothers. Gliders over lawn chairs. Six-mile beach hikes over the gym. Affection over restraint. And, never quitting over settling.
Really important things: To be the first person you turn to when the news is great, the first one you turn to when it isn’t and just the first one you turn to, period. To be able to laugh our asses off, then work through something emotional, then debate something philosophical and then circle back to laughing…all while eating our cookies and milk. To know we are fully in each other’s corners, come hell or the highest water. To know that I will love and care for your family as you would my own. Wanting trust, warmth and generosity of heart, and promise to give the same in return. Pooling our resources to build a world together and make it be exactly how we want it to be.
Good small things: Eating at Mel’s with my father. The smell of rain and freshly cut grass. The sound of the ocean. My niece and nephews cracking up at things that cracked me up when I was their age. Remembering my great grandmother’s simple life and unconditional love. Photographs framed on my dresser.
A few beliefs: “Thank You” letters are becoming a lost art. Writing is hard, if it’s good. Movies, on the whole, should be substantially better since the bar is so low.
Some concerns: Roundabouts won’t catch on. My built from scratch jeep will never be finished. "The Full Plate Diet" really isn't. That Stephen King will write a short novel. And the needle (you?) is small and the haystack is really, really big.
A momentary lapse of sanity: When I told my brother since I didn't have children of my own I'd like to help with the cost of college for my niece and nephews.
Random confessions: Realizing how many great girls were in my H.S. class. I should have dated more of them.
Parting thought: I hope that we all find the one we are looking for.

I am easy going, tend to go with the flow and enjoy whatever I'm doing. I think more than talk, but very open and honest about myself. I'm told I'm a good listener. I am not controlling or a perfectionist and I don't like those personality traits. Having things organized (gotta lot going on) and doing things well makes everyone happy and is good enough. I like people that are happy, unique, witty and/or playful. Personality is more important than looks and love matters more than money. I like doing the right thing, to have conversations that have meaning and people that are positive, loving and fun. I love to hug. For me, love is built on trust and respect. Money is not my God, God is. I am fiscally conservative; i.e., I save on little things and then spend big! and socially moderate. I follow world affairs. I have coached youth basketball, baseball, special olympics and been a YMCA camp counselor. I am currently a Rotarian. Love healthy living and constructive activity.
