Date single man from California, United States. I was at a party and started talking to the mother of an old friend. She said she was impressed with how I've managed to put things together in the end: got the job I was after, and bought the house where I want to live. I told her, “Well, I guess two out of three ain't bad," and it got me thinking--yeah, I'm ready to find someone now. So like you, I'm giving this online thing a try. One thing I can say for sure is It’s been a varied path, to lead me here: writing plays, city living, country living, backpacking abroad, writing music, going back to school, getting a doctorate, collecting friends along the way, even a stopover at law school with ivy walls.
But now after having been away for years, my compass has led me back home. Sonoma County has always been home—it’s so beautiful here! Every day on my drive to work I see the vineyards and lavender sky at break of day. I love to hike in the oak hills, and see the redwoods, and to kayak in the river down by the coast where there’s always sea birds and seals. I’m a country guy at heart--but with a blues and rock beat. (Of course, I can’t deny your Hank Williams or Patsy Cline, I mean, really!)
That being said, I definitely appreciate some of the finer things—I love to eat! Many of my best experiences involve food, friends, and drink in a great city. Last year I visited friends in Portland and New York, home of The Spotted Pig—delicious!—the year before that, Charleston S.C. (home of “The Big Nasty” chicken and biscuit affair slathered with enjoy-the-food-coma gravy) but San Francisco is home turf. I spent my early 20’s post-college years in an S.F. apartment in North Beach with a couple of Irish housemates—needless to say, I’ve had a few good times in the City.
So this is me, written from my cottage duplex fixer-upper (gettin' there..., ...) toward the top of a hill off a little gravel road with some redwood trees and a pesky racoon that won't leave my solitary goldfish alone--yeah, another time. I'd describe myself as smart but not too serious about it, caring, having a good sense of humor, and up for a good time whether that means an adventure in the wilds of New Zealand or a cozy evening indoors with some popcorn and a movie on HBO. As you read this, know that I am looking for a woman who is kind, warm-hearted, likes to laugh, enjoys hikes, likes animals, is comfortable in the country, is up for travel, and enjoys a lively discussion about life, the universe, and everything over a meal and a bottle of wine. Who knows…we may just find the perfect risotto.
