Date people from California, United States. I'm happily retired, financially secure and in great health. I can do just about anything I want to do physically. I've had a condo in San Diego since 2001 and keep a home near Seattle where I worked and lived most of my life. I'm mostly in San Diego in winter and mostly in Seattle in summer but I fly down to San Diego a lot in summer too.
My travel experiences the past four years include extended trips to Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Scotland, England,. Norway, Spain, and Portugal. I've had great experiences in all the countries I have visited and hope to see more places before too long.
I'd try a long distance relationship if there was sustained contact part of the time. I'm independent and responsible but capable of forming healthy attachments.
Although I play golf a lot and enjoy the challenge of trying to improve at the game, I have other interests. I've had a tendency toward intense interests and worked hard and was quite responsible through my adult life, although at this time I am a lot more spontaneous and might seem nomadic. I'm well educated in an academic sense but self taught in other areas like carpentry and investing.
I have time and would like to travel more with the right companion. I've done trips abroad by myself and would happily travel with someone if I met a compatible traveling companion interested in going to the same destination(s). I am interested in travel to Asia, probably China and Japan.

Flowers are great for saying I care about you or I’m sorry. I try not to take myself too seriously and enjoy being around people with a similar approach. I like being outdoors and enjoy outdoor sports like golf and skiing although I’m not particularly good at either. I enjoy hiking and fishing. My favorite fishing spot is anywhere in Alaska. I grew up in Pennsylvania and have worked and lived in Georgia, Louisiana, South Carolina, Texas, and Arizona. I have spent some time overseas including working out of Scotland, a brief stint in Australia and several months in Iran. Now I’m rooted in the west and except for trips to see family and friends, prefer to stay west of the Rockies. Somehow snow in the Sierras seems much nicer than slush in Pennsylvania. Family is very important to me. I enjoy my two sons, who presently live at home. My oldest has enlisted in the Navy and heads for basic training in November, then to Charleston where he will be in the Navy’s nuclear program. My youngest is home until January when he heads back to college. He had a very good time at last school year and apparently didn’t did waste a lot of time doing mundane things like attending class so he is sitting out a semester. His girlfriend came out this summer and he is highly motivated to get back to Colorado and do well. After January it’s just Joe, my Siberian Husky and me.
I enjoy my job, which involves overseeing construction and engineering projects in the LA Area and Hawaii. While my projects are south, I spend most of my time in the Bay Area.
I’m looking for someone who is laid back, active, has a good sense of humor and is affectionate. Good communications are key. If I say or do something wrong I would like to know what I did or said and not wonder why you are upset. My children are important to me, as are all children. My daughter the lawyer and I have gone father-daughter camping every year since she was little (she is 36 now) and it's great quality time with the benefit of nature's wonders. My favorite word is eleemosynary. I have a theory that if we started calling the homeless "eleemosynaries" they would have more dignity and be more empowered with pride. Treating sex as a "need" is perhaps the single biggest failing of men.

I have noticed that there are those who worry about the "currenty seperated" designation. Well, I was never married to the mother of my children but we were together for 30 years. So now that we are apart, for years, I never considered it a divorce. But to make me more attractive(?) I will say divorced.
