Earnestly striving for that ideal, I bought a word-a-day calendar, brushed up on my catwalk skills and hired a humor coach. It was all going so well, until the coach resigned, citing my hip swaying as distracting and my altiloquence as inappropriate. So, IРІР‚в„ўm back where I started.
Happiness for me... roaming this city or any other with my friends, celebrating Wednesdays, winter weekends snowboarding, dancing until my legs turn into spaghetti, concerts at the Fillmore, watching the hide-and-seek game the ducks at Crissy Field play with my dog, a game of pool or two or ten at a great dive. My travel itineraries tend to be loose and my luggage always fits in the overhead compartment. There are places in the world that beg for fine dining, sure. But then there are taco stands and empanada carts and goat milk straight from the source and that little bar that's never going to make it into Lonely Planet. Those are the reasons I travel and prefer the paths less often taken.
