Meet single man from Palm Springs, United States. I'm a successful lawyer who is ready to enjoy life more and work less. I like my hobbies and I don't mind enjoying them by myself whenever necessary. My social life is pretty quiet lately since losing a great love, and maybe it's time to get back in the saddle.
I'm in Who's Who in America 2012. (Not really that big a deal, but I mention it for anybody who's impressed by it.) I can't say that everyone who meets me thinks a lot of me. Some do, a lot, many others don't. People here in the desert don't seem to get me. I used to live in Boston and San Francisco, and in those places, I was much more comfortable and understood. (That's it, I'm misunderstood. Good excuse for being anti-social.)
There's a reason that I still live here in Palm Springs, a place that I really don't like it very much, but I'm not sure I know what it is. I moved here because of a girl. I was with her for a few years, and she liked it and I was okay with it because it pleased her. The problem is that while Palm Springs seemed to please her just fine, I didn't, and she dumped me. And that was a very long time ago. So long ago that I'm embarrassed to admit it. It was about 30 years ago.
The reason I give for living here for such a long time while I don't like it much is that my law practice is here, and it wouldn't make sense financially for me to move somewhere where I’m not as well known. But that's really just an excuse I use. The real reason I still live here is inertia. I'm sure that I could do just fine financially no matter where I moved. I like San Francisco a lot, and I'm still very fond of New England. So much so that I sent my only begotten son to New England to attend prep school so that I’d have a good reason to go back there from time to time. I used to visit him every weekend during football season, and then I'd go back there once a month or so the rest of the year.
But then, he graduated and I kinda stayed here waiting for a reason to leave.
I'm kind of interesting to get to know, I think. At least for some people. I like adventure. I'd much rather go on a vacation where I explore new and different places than spending my time lying on a beach somewhere and walking around towns with nothing but t-shirt shops in the late afternoon..
Politically, I'm a little unpredictable. I'm a member of the NRA and the ACLU. I'm pro death penalty and pro abortion. I was raised Catholic and attended parochial schools for the first 12 years of my education, but then I stopped believing in all that nonsense, and now I do a lot of writing for free thinker, secular-type magazines. I have a blog and do a lot of writing - humor, history, politics, religion, culture.
How about you? Do you like to read? I do. Do you like to watch good cinema? I do. What about books? I don't expect that a female would necessarily appreciate the same types of reading that I like, but she's got to be able to read. And understand what I'm writing about. Wait, forget that, I don't think she should be expected to understand what I write about because much of it is nonsense.
I like nice things. jewelry, cars, books, etc. Not art, although I'd like to get to know someone who appreciates good art.
I was really surprised when I undertook to get involved with this match.com business. So many questions about exercise, and I'm really embarrassed to admit that I don't get any. Ugh! Maybe I'll get into it more now. I used to exercise all the time. I was quite the athlete in my time. Now? Just a little lazy, I guess. But I'll look at it as a challenge. I'll get interested in a good sport - not golf. Something more difficult for a guy in his 60's. Maybe tennis.
I like to travel, see interesting things. What about you? I'm thinking about going to see the Panama Canal. Wanna go with me? I would be great if you speak Spanish. I don't. I've tried to learn, but I don't seem to get it that well.
