In many areas of my life, I am very much a hands-on person. That means I design and do most of the home improvement work myself, and only hire skilled tradesmen to do work that I have no skill or tools for. The same goes for vacation planning, as I much prefer doing the research myself and planning my route, instead of going on a cruise ship or going on a packaged tour.
I like to cook at home, and it will be even better if we cook together. Some of my favorite foods are smoked salmon, Nabeyaki udon, Cantonese style (Yuang Chow) fried rice, steak with pepper and garlic, lots of fruits, stir fried vegetables, creme brulee, clam chowder, and smoked pork ribs made in my backyard in a specially designed box.
My favorite NPR radio shows: Fresh Air, Marketplace, news. I love to listen to in depth interviews of interesting people. I prefer reading in depth newspaper and magazine articles instead of watching short, sensationalized TV newscasts.
I worked in Ottawa, Canada from 1987 - 1994 before I was picked off by a recuirter to work in Southern California. Since that time, I've worked in Silicon Valley (NorCal) and Boston, before returning to SoCal many years ago.
I read books on architecture, industrial design, finance, politics, photography, automotive engineering. Now I am reading Guardians of Ga'Hoole by Kathryn Lasky, since my daughter has already read all 17 books. I am on book 9 now, and I love it.
In my high school years, I loved to go downhill skiing. I grew up in North Vancouver, Canada. It was a short bus ride to Grouse Mountain. When I was young, I studied classical piano playing up to just below the grade where you are certified as a teacher, and also studied western music history. At high school, I was exposed to jazz, but I never learned to improvise jazz music on the piano. That's why I love attending live music concerts. I visited The Knitting Factory in NYC back in the late 1980's and early 1990's. The jazz bands that played there were incredible. My favorite band through my high school years was Renaissance, with Michael Dunford writing most of the songs and Annie Haslam singing all of them.
I don't do FWBs, and that's why I still have a Honda NSX sports car in my garage.

I am still in touch with my 6th grade teacher Mrs. Chobanian. We remember each other every Christmas and St. Patrick's Day. No this isn't weird. Yes, St. Patrick's Day is a Holiday for me!
My kids are older now and live out of state. Two boys and a girl. Great kids! I talk to them every day and see them about once a month.
I am a runner. More than a marathon every week(not all at one time) Clears my mind, keeps me in shape....
