Date someone special from California, United States. Important update: My nephew's baby was born recently so I'll be leaving Match soon. I would still like to meet someone.
I'm looking for a warm, compassionate woman who likes to be close but also has her own space and allows me mine. She could be a chameleon; a girly-girl one moment, a tomboy the next, and in a few minutes some shade of gray in between. It would be nice to share interests, but also nice to have some we may learn about from one another. She'd be smart, articulate, and comfortable in her own skin and be looking for a long-term committed relationship.
I believe in opening a door for a lady or holding her chair. Does that make me a gentleman? Not in my eyes, but I have been accused of being one.
I'm kind of goofy. I have a bad habit of mimicking people, which sometimes keeps my co-workers in stitches. I tend to make fun of myself, but I also make fun of all sorts of things in daily life.
I've lived most of my life on the San Francisco peninsula. I love the quietness of the suburbs. I also like the simplicity of life in the central valley and some of the more rural communities. The funny thing is that a former colleague of mine who came from Alabama once told me that my neck was redder than his grandfather's (this was meant in a complimentary fashion - his grandfather was a true Southern gentleman).
The highest point in my life was probably when my Poodle puppy made his first hunting retrieves. I guess the second highest was when he finished his AKC championship a couple of months later. He finished so fast that I still didn't understand what was happening. :-) He's not with me any more, but I recently got my new puppy. Puppy showed some, but it's not in the cards for him.
One of my other passions is auto racing. I love the skill and knowledge it takes to put a team that performs together. It's fun to analyze what the cars are doing and what needs to be changed. I love the spectacle of the sights, sounds, and smells the racetrack brings. There's just nothing like an American V8 powered car powering out of a corner (but I've driven some little foreign jobs around corners before too).
When I was in college, I did a little bit of competitive martial arts.
I like photography. You'll find me behind the lens, not in front of it. That's why I don't have a lot of pictures of myself. I also enjoy leisurely bike rides and (surprise!) walking my dog.
What do I do for work you ask? I'm currently working for a non-profit that deals with child care and education issues. My previous life was as an engineer in a tech company. I try to learn something new every day (although I don't always succeed at that!).
The people I work with would describe me as "tall" and "slender" or "thin." Personally, I think I'm about average, but I've been living in this skin my whole life...
I've been described as awfully intelligent. A former colleague invited me to join MENSA. I declined after finding that it just wasn't my speed. I never really thought I was out of the ordinary in intelligence, but there you have it. I do think that smart is sexy. How sexy are you?
