My most profound experience in recent years was a year and a half spent out-of-state caring for my elderly dad during the last phase of his life. I learned so much, witnessed things I would have never dreamed possible, and gained many new perspectives which I will carry with me for life. I also have a large dog, and reverence for animals is as important to me as respect for people.
