I had a dog once when I was little and thinking myself only as a dog lover, I never imagined that I would have cats, but three cats share my life at home… two of which my dentist talked me into adopting (he did all the talking while he was working on my teeth and I couldn’t say anything except whaa ahh aha…), and Yuki came into my life when he was just a little kitten. A short story….It was a typical nice and slow Sunday morning, I was doing my regular chores when the sounds of a cat crying brought me out of the house to investigate; I went out the front door down a few steps where I could see the street below. At first I thought it was one of my other cats, so I called out, Cleo…Mu…., then a tiny little white Siamese popped his head from under the car across the street. Looking right at me he came out, climbing the steps to where I was sitting – purring like a little motor he began brushing up against me. I was surprised since cats generally tend to shy away from strangers, then even more surprised when he let me pick him up. He looked like he hadn’t ate in a while so I took him inside and offered him a bowl of krunchies, he practically inhaled the bowl he ate so fast! Well, after acting and sounding like bath water would definitely harm him and getting dried with a hair dryer (he didn’t like the noise) and flea eradication, I fell in love with the little one; that was 6 years ago. He’s such a cutie… he greets me when I come home, comes when I call him (usually), patrols the perimeter for enemy rodents, goes hunting for birds and other creatures, and we have conversations – mostly its him trying to convince me that it’s time for some yummy treats… other times my 3 kitties offer me their prized catch of the day. Once Yuki tried to “save my life” when he thought I was drowning in my tub (he’s not so keen of water!). Yep, they are amazing.
My brother and father are into martial arts, I guess my niece too – I’ve always enjoyed various physical activities and regularly work out. Being born in Japan certainly does not qualify me as a native Angelino but in every other way I probably am, since besides those beautiful early years in Kumamoto, I was raised in L.A. and know it intimately.
I run a non-profit foundation and work with government, universities, businesses and military and live in a little house on a hill near the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, where there’s many hiking trails, museums, galleries, restaurants, music events, community events, sporting events and… viola, it’s conveniently close to my job!
I find that life is much more meaningful, fun, and interesting if itРІР‚в„ўs shared with stimulating conversation over a nice glass of wine in town, for instance, or huddled around the warm crackling orange glow of a campfire in the High Sierras, exploring, laughing, or sometimes just hanging out with that special person. IРІР‚в„ўve travelled the western half of the U.S. and Hawaii many times, and the East coast, Mexico, Central America, and Japan, but IРІР‚в„ўve been mostly an armchair traveler going around Europe and Asia and other parts of the globe.
