I'm a romantic at heart who laughs a lot and listens hard. I am also an inveterate story teller... my life has, at best, been an adventure. I've learned from hard times and also from the good ones. I have a great set of friends built from kindergarten in Arizona through college, graduate school, and life... here and there.
But, I really miss having a pal and from there perhaps something more. Hence, I am on match.
My three kids are raised and mostly on their own.. the economy made that harder for the younger ones than for their older brother. I enjoy them when they are home.
I am a university professor, not the stuffy sort but the sort that likes talking about politics, doing research (especially when it means I get to talk to people about what they did and why), working with students, and traveling... I think some days I never grew up fully. The other good part about my profession is that it gives me lots of flexible and free time. (I've gone through all the hoops and now can do what I love and be free to do things with people who are important to me.Every year, I teach a course on 1968 which is half "think and be critical" kids and half the "go figure" part of reminiscent history. How fun is that )
I fell in love with Poles and having been going back and forth often since 1967. I can tell grand stories of my misadventures and wonderful tales of good times and good people. I have traveled as well to the usual spots (conferences are great excuses) and to places most places don't go to. My favorite part of all this is the people I've met and gotten to know... I collect stories an, if they are about politics, even use them in what I write.
I learned from all of this to enjoy the good things in life, adapt to others, and laugh at absurdities.
I love to cook, talk, do culture, and hang out... There is little that I am not willing to try. As a forester's daughter, I love the outdoors. But, as someone who spent years in New York, I love cities as well.
