I used to be a tomboy. Now that I'm grown up, I'd still rather be outside than in...on the water, soaking up the sun, hiking a trail. I live in a mountain lake resort town and it suits me well. I enjoy all the outdoor recreation we have here, but I don't do extreme sports. I just have a great time. The beauty here is intoxicating and I feel alive just exploring the world around me. I've done Search and Rescue in the Sierra backcountry for about 6 years; it's a great way to be out there and help people at the same time. Most of us on SAR are adrenaline junkies.
I'm energetic, caring, and imperfect. You've got to be able to laugh at yourself a little.
I love the comforts of home and definitely like being spoiled, but now and then my spirit of adventure tugs at me and I crave travel. I enjoy trying new things, so I'm trying paddle boarding and just bought my first board.
I don't want to give a laundry list on what I like in a man. But since it helps to put something down... I do like a man who is as comfortable outdoors in the woods as he is at dinner out. If you're spontaneous, we'll get along fine. I often like to go for a spur of the moment evening boat ride, or a walk in the forest. Days off are for doing something really fun outdoors. I can be high energy during the day, but in the evening I like to have fun in a laid-back kind of way, like watching sunsets on the beach. That can happen nightly around here. But it's also such fun to dress up and go out to dinner...good wine and live music make a great paring. And please make me laugh! A sense of humor is good for the heart.

Although I call California my home, my life started in small town outside of Pittsburgh PA. My father was Italian and my mother was Russian. I grew up in an Italian neighborhood. Many of my relatives were my immediate neighbors and the front doors were always opened to family and friends. The kitchens buzzed with activity and were filled with a mix of delicious smells and the ubiquitous simmering pot of spaghetti sauce. Everyone had a bountiful garden and made wine and beer. This is how I fell in love with cooking, eating and learned the importance of family.
I am blessed with a good life, a great job and wonderful friends and family in this beautiful Golden State. I do not have children but love being the Auntie to my 2 nieces and nephew. I try not to judge, but when I miss the mark in times of challenge, my self awareness kicks in, and I practice compassion for myself and others.
I have a healthy, active life style which includes regular exercise. I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, being in nature at the beach or in the mountains, group exercise work-outs, cycling (I currently donРІР‚в„ўt own a bike) and did quite a bit of cross country skiing. For fun and entertainment, I enjoy theatre, movies ( prefer offbeat, independent and foreign films instead mainstream box office types), dining out (fine restaurants as well as neighborhood dives with good burgers and beer), wine tasting, (I have more of a European palate) museums, speaking engagements and live music.
Although I appreciate classical music, jazz and fusion, my dance spirit moves to blues, rock, cajun/zydeco and outlaw country (IРІР‚в„ўll explain later). One of my favorite childhood memories is learning to dance while standing on my fatherРІР‚в„ўs shoes. Music makes me happy and yes I can dance and have fun moving to the music!
I am comfortable out and about or nesting at home working in the garden, reading or watching TV and cooking an impressive meal for myself. However, it would be more fun to share my passion for food and wine with you! This includes the spectrum of the cooking experience from start to finish - menu planning, shopping , cooking and finally popping the cork on the perfect bottle of wine and savoring the feast. The feast can be as simple as a salad, bread and cheese and some chocolate (love it) but prepared with thoughtful intention.
I also treasure simple pleasures like waking up in the early morning, making a good cup of coffee while watching the birds and squirrels in my backyard. The still morning without the hum of the Valley is a sacred moment. Animals, cats and dogs, make my blue eyes sparkle and always make me smile. Stephen Colbert makes me laugh out loud.

I'm more into yoga than tennis these days (my knees are 20 yrs older than the rest of me) but still love an evening stroll, exploring new towns and hiking leafy trails just to be outside. Favorite sports to watch are football and basketball.

I am, in part, the product of parents who came to the United States from Europe in the last 1930's and who ended up raising their children in NY city, Long Island, and later Berkeley, California. I have four older brothers. Growing up, I adored my father, and knew my mother was one of the most beautiful women on the planet. My father always told me that I was capable of being anything I wanted to be, and he strongly suggested I become a doctor, psychiatrist or lawyer and never depend on a man for anything --- I did not pursue any of those professions, far from it, but his love and confidence helped me become a capable and confident woman. My beautiful mother was there for me when I became a single parent, and it is she to whom I am most grateful for helping me raise my son and daughter.
I am just an everyday girl, and the farthest thing from a housewife of Orange County! I believe in God and love, and I look forward to finding and spending the rest of my life with the man who is just right for me, and I for him.... just us keeping it real and simple with walks, talks, family and friends, dinners, concerts, cultural events, the arts, travel.... you name it. . Love life and meeting people. I am a positive person and always look for the good in everything. I am widowed, and sadly I thought we would grow old together and share the rest of our life. Would love to share with the right man. Physical activities I love are dancing (especially ballroom), landscaping and gardening, and working out at the gym. For relaxation a day hanging in my backyard with my 5 doggies - yes I said 5 - movies, bicycling along beach bike paths, walks with my 4-legged children and love to be spontaneous and go play pool, bowl, dance, a road trip to ?, museums and great concerts at the Casinos.
As you can see I did not show pictures of me white water rafting, jumping out of airplanes, skiing, rock climbing, standing in front of the hundreds of historical landmarks showing the different countries I've been too. Yes, I have done all of those things, but that's not "who I am" - Ms. Athlete/World Traveler.
For me to describe me, I'm a very deep loving woman. Everything I do and say I work through God first, then my heart, then through my voice. I wake up in a great mood and excited for whatever the new day's adventure will be. I'm living my dream - that of owning my own business - and the joy I receive from making women and men happy all day long ( I own an intimate apparel boutique).
