I travelled a fair amount internationally in my 20s and 30s and was an exchange student, in Denmark at 16. Lately, my travel is more within the US as career and parenting have taken priority. I hope to show my child most of America's landmarks. However, as my child gets a bit older our plan is to visit friends and family in Europe and Australia within the next few years.
I am very grateful for my wonderful friends, my outrageously fun work colleagues, and the health of my family, especially my parents. I come from a huge extended family of Irish and Polish Catholics. Being raised in such a large family has taught me to appreciate time with loved ones, a good party, and meeting new people, even though I can sometimes be shy. I am more spiritual than religious. This is to say, I am a “believer”, but I don’t get to church very often these days.
I am devoted to family and spend most of my energy trying to be a good mom. I strive, as well, to be a loving daughter to my parents, with whom I am close. My child has special needs, which is to say, a high-functioning autism spectrum disorder. Many adults would not notice this disability at first, but kids usually get other kids right away and notice there is something "different" about my child. I endeavor to keep myself informed and educated about my child's needs and see that the best healthcare and educational resources are made available to my nine year old.
I was married for nine years and have been divorced for six years.
