Over the years as a single parent, I was so consumed with having to be strong and responsible that I fear I may have become a little too independent. I am a very outgoing and direct person, and display a familiarity with people that is sometimes misunderstood. I admit that I work way too much and would welcome a great reason to slow down. I'm an early riser and have a strong work ethic...but my lifelong friends tell me that IРІР‚в„ўm still the same old girl I used to be. IРІР‚в„ўm told I am smart, funny, and look at least 10 years younger than my age. I have a positive attitude, an adventurous spirit, a lot of energy, and genuinely care about people. I have a very fun and playful side to me (I laugh often, smile all the time, and sing out loud in the car) but also enjoy quiet times and intelligent conversation. When it comes to relationships, I'm a one-man woman, and take commitment seriously. I'm not a clingy or possessive person and have a strong domestic side to me too.
When it comes to the strange and awkward world of online dating, I feel most comfortable when there is an exchange of a few emails (not endless), followed by a brief phone conversation, and then it's easy to decide if we should meet or not. If we decide to meet, I like to keep that first time fairly brief since both of us will quickly know if there is a connection and whether or not we should go on a real "date." I feel these steps are important because each one reveals a little more about each other. Everyone talks about chemistry...but find it so hard to define. To me, it all comes down to one simple question: How do I feel when I am with this man?

I'm small at 5'4" but people say I have a strong presence. I was born in northern California, high school in southern California, then moved to Hawaii for a couple of decades until my job transferred me to San Diego. I have always lived beside the ocean and love it dearly. I like all ocean sports and I'm a four time Maui County outrigger canoe champion.
But then.... something about the desert calls to me. And don't get me started on the mountains! I love how the wind sings through the trees. My career takes up much of my time so I like to break free on my days off. I love travel, especially road trips throughout the southwest. Often I just toss my dogs in the car and go. I have traveled through most of the US, Baja and the South Pacific.
I like to garden and get my hands dirty. I’m driven and hard working. I can hold my own on a camping trip as well as hobnobbing with CEOs at formal dinners. I love animals and tend to stop and help strays….a lot. I ran a humane society for six years and I am still in the mind set to help animals in need. My little family consists of two dogs and four cats right now. I am honest, direct and loyal. Mom raised me to be a lady and some of her teachings actually sunk in. I'm Old School with old fashion values. I like to take things slow when getting to know someone. Profanity still shocks me and I do not tolerate it. I don't play games with peoples feelings. Due to years and years of packing a meal to take to work, I really don't cook all that much but I'm willing to learn new dishes. I NEVER watch TV, I prefer reading or watching movies. I have a large movie library filled with classics, foreign, Indy, action and drama. Wait! There's more! I'm also a bit clumbsy. My friends say my Indian name is "She who trips a lot."
I am a cancer survivor which has taught me to look at things differently ( be grateful for each and every day.) I watched my beloved brother lose his battle with cancer which has taught me to look at life differently. ( Don't waste a day.)
