Date a soulmate from California, United States. I retired in December and moved to the central coast from Berkeley. It was love at first sight when visited here a year ago and now I am relishing the physical beauty and warm culture of this area--it is all that I imagined and more. I am learning to adapt my energetic style to a much less structured life. Friends from up north ask what I am doing and my quick answer is always that I am loafing, but the reality is that I am savoring a much better mix of slow and busy times. I am meeting wonderful new people here and adoring the plentiful bird and animal wildlife. In fact there is a huge covey of quail at the seed tray in my back yard even as I am writing this. My time goes to visiting with friends, working out, reading, wine tasting, walking, and especially to volunteering at Pacific Wildlife Care, an animal rehab and release nonprofit in Morro Bay. I am looking for a sweet, smart, active guy in my general age range, someone who is a bit sophisticated about who he is and what makes him tick. And he should want to find out what makes me tick.
Meet someone special from United States. I'm trim, OK looking, energetic, spunky, warm, affectionate, basically cheeful and easily enthused.
I have tended to be an activist and organizer (a County Human Relations Commission, singles group, community events, etc.) and served on local commissions. At present I am on an advisory counsel to the County, serve on the County Grand Jury, assist my homeowners association and have a minor involvement in a state organization seeking health insurance reform. I would appreciate a man whose values include service to community and humanity and, whether or not he chooses involvement, would be supportive of my efforts. (I'd readily leave for a travel adventure of any length.)
My family is very significant to me, as are friends. Periodically I visit with my Daughter, Son-in-Law and two grandchildren in San Diego and at my home.
I enjoy variety in activities and would prefer a partner who also likes variety. However, common values, kindness, being reliable and responsible and having a sense of humor are most important to me. Too, I seek a man who is bright and open to new ideas.
My mate should be comfortable with my preference for vegetarian food, being irreligious and tending to become immersed in community endeavours. (The latter is waning.)
While a man who shares some of my enjoyments is ideal I am open to other types of experiences he might prefer. Optimally my special man and I would take hikes or walks together and he would be accepting of my inept skiing for a once a year trip. These are not essentials assuming other compatibilities. Discussing films we see together would be nice.
Ideally we would travel. My preference has been for foreign countries and in the past my travel has sometimes involved home exchanges. Too, I have fantisized a year long road trip in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
Compatibility of values and some habits is essential, plus companionability. The hand I want to hold through the years is of of a man who is capable of feeling loved and capable of loving.
