My parents built the homes I grew up in and instilled the values of education and hard work which probably explains why I like taking on challenging physical and artistic projects.....when I was younger, in addition to my regular career, one of my hobbies was to buy fixer houses and turn them into the nicest house on the block. I'm not just another pretty face, I can fix stuff.
I actually have learned to enjoy the gym and try to go most days, some days twice....I'm really not OCD (at least not clinically) but I have goals that I'm working toward. I credit my encouraging workout instructors for not letting me cheat on the planks. I go to the farmers market weekly and try to cook mostly healthy. I believe in moderation and try to do the right things, but hey, who doesn't want a pizza or ice cream every once in awhile. What's important is that we both support each others healthy habits and goals.
Music has literally been in my life since 1st grade chorus...Santa brought a guitar years later and I drove my parents crazy...after college I started playing in pubs and later in professional bands as a hobby. I still love playing but these days the venues have been confined to my music room... I guess you could say that music is my "thing". It doesn't matter what it is, but you have a "thing" too....
I love to travel locally and overseas and could tell you about all the places I've been, but what's really important is that you have the desire and time to travel as well. I wanted to combine my love of camping with domestic travel, so it made sense to get an RV. It's not rock star calibre but it's all about being comfortable these days and it's got a booming stereo...and you can have the closet.
I live in an old, established neighborhood near the best ice cream parlor in town...Old houses are great but there's always something.....a few years ago I got tired of looking at shrubs and weeds so I totally renovated my backyard and built a studio. I would rather have a pool but in these older neighborhoods, the utilities run underground through the backyards....so if you have a pool, you've suddenly become more attractive.....
If a guy could have a wish list, this would be mine....You're the girl next door.....relatively consistent but undeniably reliable.... level headed and smart but you still manage to laugh at my corny jokes, you're classy but not overly vain. My view on life is “do no harm to the people or the planet”, and enjoy every day of life. I have a sense of social justice, which includes gender and racial equality; the historical personalities who inspire me are people like Carl Sagan, Emilia Earhart, Sir Earnest Shackelton, and Sally Ride.
Also, I am very interested in cosmology and astronomy (I taught astronomy at CSUS a number of years ago). Astronomy can actually be a very romantic experience; there is something about a clear crispy starry night in the foothills that is quite amorphous and spiritual, well worth the experience.
