In my free time, I enjoy a pretty wide range of activities though golfing, swimming, and any sort of exercise are definitely among my favorites. Traveling is always an adventure whether it’s a weekend getaway, a tropical vacation or a trip overseas. I joined this site because I'm interested in first meeting people and building friendships. I feel that before you can really build a strong relationship you first must get to know someone and that cannot be done on one or two dates. So I'm looking to meet someone to see if we have anything in common and then if we do see if it can grow into something closer.
I enjoy the outdoors and hope to get more involved in cycling, running, tennis, golfing and generally anything outside. Currently I play tennis and golf weekly. I am also trying to get back into jogging, but starting back slow going out 2-3 times a week.
My house is also keeping me busy. I've got a lot of work to do on my house to get it modernized. I'm starting by researching ideas on the internet doing some of the work myself and hiring help for other projects.
I also like to travel, but have noticed it is much more fun when you can share the experience with someone special. I travelled both for my job and for pleasure. I really want to go back to Italy to see things I may have missed on my first visit; I'd really like to revisit Europe to see countries that I have not yet visited. I would also like to travel more in the US because there is so much to see here at home.
As far as what I'm looking for in someone special, I'm looking for someone I enjoy spending time with because that person makes me laugh and when we are together nothing else matters. Date a man from California, United States. Wow! How do I begin. Down to earth. Really appreciate someone who is sincere, honest and has a great sense of humor. Be able to laugh at yourself. Life is full of wonderful experiences and I truly appreciate that. I enjoy running, working out, getting out for a ride on the Harley, or just simply cuddling while watching a movie! You have to be ok with affection, snuggling and cuddling. These are important to a warm relationship in my world. Having done (and still doing) the responsible adult thing for some time now, and having successfully raised two daughters (who are 27 and 30, which can't be possible because I can't possibly be that old!), I do believe I've paid enough dues to warrant some play time before the buzzer sounds. I consider my child rearing to be successful because they are self-sufficient and happy with their lives. My preference for play time includes live music (playing it, audiencing it, and dancing to it - my tastes include rock, blues, funk, prog, Americana, anything heavy, industrial, goth, reggae, big band, classical, and.... aw, schucks, it's all good!), hiking, backpacking, throwing the disc, gaming (card games, board games, field games, not head games), golfing, skiing, snowshoeing, writing, drawing, making polymer clay creations, art, dancing, and by golly, I'm open to anything you happen to be into as well (i.e. If the chemistry is happening, I'd make the effort to get on board. I never thought I'd get into golfing, but I let my dear bro sweet-talk me into it). I am not a morning person. However, I am a true renaissance man - educated both through schooling and figgerin' things out on my own, able to do household repairs and construction (just finished (yeah, right) helping my sister remodel her fixer-upper), and constantly in pursuit of my creative muse.
I am among those that see the glass as half full. However, it makes me wonder if I've stumbled into some kind of fairy tale ("Hey! Somebody's been drinking MY drink!"). I am fortunate to be healthy and have a healthy sense of humor to boot. I am non-traditional, honest, respectful, solid, cursed/blessed with a sensitive nature, erudite, iconoclastic, integrified, musical, and artistic with a predilection for sesquipedalianism and portmanteau. As a lifetime blood donor I also enjoy other volunteering enterprises. I don't watch television. I've been told I'm a catch, but that just sounds fishy. So here I am on match.com - aka "Fishing For a Winner". And now all of a sudden I've got a hankerin' for sushi. Hmmmm.....
Oh yeah, before I forget, I wanted to let you know that I'm bearded, balding, and tattooed, some of which is obvious. The beard tends to come and go. The hair seems to have done got up and left and it ain't coming back, and the grey, well, I've earned it. The tattoos stay, and no, I don't ride a motorcycle (but I can repair one). My ideal partner is intelligent, active, open minded (but not so open minded that her brain has fallen out), has her own life, and prefers independence and equality to the soul-sucking co-dependency that seems to characterize traditional relationships. Speaking of non-traditional, I do my own laundry, make my own lunches, and every other domestic chore that needs to get done. I cook because i like to eat. It would be wonderful to be a partner with someone who challenges me and in turn accepts my challenges, all in the line of improving ourselves, of course. Also, she knows that the fairy tales she was raised with are just that. Oh, and please Fairy Godmother, if it's not too much to ask for, may she also be creative and witty and kind?
