A little about myself: I was raised in the deep South and taught good manners and common decency. I like opening doors for people, saying 'Bless you' when someone sneezes and saying 'thank you' for the even the smallest kindnesses. I believe treating people with respect comes with its own rewards - self respect.
My pleasures are simple - I do volunteer work regularly, enjoy good food and take pride in 'doing the right thing.' Nothing makes me happier than surprising a friend with flowers or a small gift to say how much I appreciate her.
I am a very open minded person as well. I like learning about other cultures and enjoy reading travel books. Ideally I would like to visit the places I read about, but I would prefer to not travel alone. I have hitch-hiked around Ireland, swam with sea turtles in Barbados and sipped cold beers at sunset on the beach in Mexico and and Belize.
