Date someone special from United States. Well, if I were King of the World, I'd definitely make a few changes. First of all, dogs, especially mine, would be able to laugh audibly whenever appropriate. Also, that phrase "tall, dark, and handsome," would be amended to "steadily employed, dark and handsome." Also, politicians and political commentators would all have to wear clown costumes or burlap bags. And, finally, I'd end all the wars and suffering and stuff.
Oh, and I'd probably have a girlfriend....
My ideal mate would be brilliant and beautiful and terribly funny and own 27 boxers and a house on the ocean. My realistically desirable mate would be funny and literate and well-traveled, outdoorsy and indoorsy, love music and art and irony, communicate well and live with integrity, and not be allergic to dogs or the occasional sarcastic comment. And be irresistibly cute.
About me.......my house is usually clean, my car rarely is (sand and dog hair)....I don't believe in fate, but do believe in both karma and true love....spent 6 months freelancing photos in Bosnia during the war, where I fell in love with the culture, drank with soldiers, and fired off two whole clips from an AK-47.....used to play bass in various indie bands up in the bay area.....wish I did a lot more camping....tend to see photos in black and white, the world in shades of grey.....vacillate between loving and hating technology.....always identified with outsider art, but still love big screen popcorn summer movie escapism.....walked for the whales in high school, joined Surfrider last year....have voted for Ralph Nader, Al Franken, and Arnold Schwarzenegger at various times.....am better than my parents at communicating in relationships.....have a "kid in a candy store" approach to the library....have seen every episode of Dexter at least once.....used to be more of a city person....would trade one of my toes to be able to cross my eyes....can't wait to see the Dresden Dolls again....enjoy owning my own house, and not paying rent...and believe in opening doors for women and friends alike.
So what am I looking for? "It." Chemistry. Butterflies. Giddiness. Trust. Love. The conviction that the person I'm with is the coolest person ever, because she just is, even when she isn't. Because, even when she isn't, she still is, because love is just like that. She's had to work all day, and her feet hurt, and she's had to come home and put up with my b.s., and the Chinese food tastes kind of funny, and maybe we both just need a cup of tea and a neck rub. Seriously.
