My life until now has been very goal oriented and I have recently become much more relaxed enjoying family, friends, work, social causes, and community service. I've started taking art/painting classes and find it much more challenging than I anticipated.

Date people from California, United States. I came to this country when I was sixteen to study English and return to Portugal to teach it as a second language. I changed my course and went to beauty school after graduating from high school, and opened my business which lasted thirty five years. Eventhough I didn't become a teacher I feel proud that I came to the United States and learned a new language and culture. I also had the chance to take some courses in college which I enjoyed a lot. My life had a big turn thirteen years ago as I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a big operation and seven months at home , I returned to my business and worked full time for another six years until the cancer returned, this time more advanced and malignant.
This happened seven years ago. I gave up my business and became a retired woman.
After living in the San Francisco Bay Area all my American life I decided to come to Sacramento and live close to my only son and his family.
I'm a firm believer that the Lord gave me the cancer so I would listen to Him, and I did. It took two strikes but at the second time I gave it all to the Lord.
I'm cancer free without kemo, radiation or meds.
With His help I changed my diet, my life style, and most important my relationship with the Lord.
I thank the Lord each day for all the blessings He continues to send my way, and so I think I'm a very lucky person to be here today.
My friends think I was a very courageous person not to follow the doctors orders but I'm glad I chose a different Doctor.
Now about my social life: I go out to lunches with girlfriends, sometimes movies, not so much concerts anymore but would like to start again, go for rides to San Francisco and coast line, and travel to Portugal in the summer by myself.
It would be nice to find a male friend to share my life with.
