My history: I grew up in a Southern California beach town. In the early 60's it was folk music in clubs then on to he San Francisco hip scene. I eventually settled down and went to work for 30 years in San Jose first as a technician and then an electrical engineer designing aircraft displays.
I'm divorced (for a long time) with a wonderful son and grandson. I can count 24 years in three of my relationships and am on good terms with the women that have been in my life (I have treated them well).
I am fit and exercise regularly, I'm very young for my age.
I have a daily meditation practice and study Tibetan Buddhism (the Dalai Lama's lineage). I like art and music allot of course love the outdoors weekend trips out of town, love to go to Europe etc...
What kind of person an I looking for? Well money doesn't matter so much. The wisdom of a kind heart.
I do seek out and find the positive and beautiful things in life whether that would be art, music, philosophy or a day at the beach. Someone who likes to do those things too, that would be good.

I'm a recently retired woman who would like to meet someone to spend time together going places, doing fun activities and just hanging out with and what happens happens or doesn't. My friends find me funny and a good listener and someone they can confide in and I want the same in a partner. I spend time with family members and a few close friends. I love animals, their so honest and real. My daughter who lives in New York, most important person in my life. I like to cook and am trying to develop a habit with exercising, aren't we all. Ben Lomond is in the Santa Cruz Mountains, very rural with lots of trees. I love the outdoors. I'm interested in spending time with someone who enjoys travel, long or short trips, likes movies, is easy going and doesn't take life too seriously. I haven't had a partner in many years so I feel like a teenager doing this "dating thing." I love the water, the beach, the Redwoods and all of nature.
I'm interested in someone who enjoys the same interests and yet has their own and doesn't always need someone to be there. If I feel close to someone I'm very touchy/feely and enjoy being close, holding hands, snuggling on the couch. At this point I'm interested in spending time to get to know someone and if that turns into more, so much the better. As we get older we all have some baggage and hopefully we've learned from it. I know I have. I don''t want to change anyone or have them try to change me. Honest and open communication and consideration and kindness and following the Golden Rule is my style.
To me, spending time with someone and talking brings out what a person values in life. When someone meets someone thats really where the relationship begins and if it continues so much the better. I have a hard time getting very personal on such an open forum. I'm a very kind and giving person and have no problem standing up for myself.
I have a bit of a sarcastic humor and not everyone gets it and I must say I have become jaded over the years. I somehow survived the 60s especially living them in Santa Cruz. I'm fairly outspoken on some subjects and could care less about others. I always vote but am becoming more apolitical every day. My match needs to be liberal but not obsessive.
I worked a non-profit agency wearing different hats; working with the mentally ill/drug addicted adults, very difficult work. My father just past away so I have a lot of open time and hope to do some volunteer work at the animal shelter in Santa Cruz. Nursing has been my primary career and I always keep my license active in case I have to or want to go back to it. My last job was 9 years of craziness, I'll go into later.
I'm a water person, not necessary to be in it all the time but near it. I love boats, the wind and the sails. I love to go to Tahoe and Yosemite and the Grand Canyon is my most spiritual place. My match needs to enjoy the beauty of nature and animals..
I'm not looking for someone who I have to do everything with every day. Sports are not my thing, although I do enjoy going to a baseball game once in awhile. If our activities differ I can always find something to do and don't resent my partners passions or fun if some is outside mine. But its very necessary for me to cuddle and watch TV together or take a walk together cook and play house together. I would put more pictures up but my ability to work the computer is limited. None are of me "dressed up" but I do clean up very well. I'm not very photogenic, look better in person. People are surprised when I tell them my age.
