At my home in the hills between Bel Air and Sherman Oaks, I putter in my rose garden and stay in shape by jogging, working out at the gym, playing golf and hiking a few times a week in the SM Mtns. I read a lot and follow current events, root for the Dodgers and am a life-long Democrat. (Speaking of that, I like most of the things President Obama has done, although not all, and find that I am more in sync with a woman who also leans Democratic.) I enjoy all kinds of music, including jazz, rock, African, Brazilian, Cuban and classical. I don't mind a little rap when it is creative and clever, and not angry or profane. I like to cook and lately have been learning how to make authentic Italian pizza. I recently rescued a small calico cat from the city shelter.
I like to explore the LA area and attend cultural events. Last year, I went to the Hollywood Bowl for a Clinton Foundation benefit starring Lady Gaga, flew to San Francisco to see an Impressionist exhibit at the SF MOMA and then attended a great wine tasting on the Fort Mason Pier. Most recently, I attended the Fench Chefs' Picnic in Agoura and the Topanga Banjo and Fiddle Fest. Just attended the Beach Boys' 50th reunion concert at the Hollywood Bowl. I just returned from a short trip to upstate New York to visit family and friends and then went on to Florida to help my mother celebrate her 93rd birthday. Istanbul and Nairobi are next on my agenda.
One of my photos shows me volunteering recently this past November on a Habitat for Humanity project. Over the years, I have volunteered for a number of charities, including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (lost my youngest brother to that), the LA Free Clinic and Big Brothers, and believe in giving back to the community and those less fortunate.
