I, like everyone else, treasure time with my family. I have two sisters who live locally, one older and one younger and we joke that I'm the "baloney" in the sister sandwich... We have a traditional once a month sibling lunch that rotates between the homes. We have a blast making up a theme lunch that everyone contributes a dish to. I have two daughters [2 grandchildren each] who live out of state and I try to travel to see them and my grandchildren at least once or more a year.
Growing up I was raised by a [most of the time] single mother. It wasn't disfunctional or anything, but I learned a great deal about how NOT... to treat a woman. Sometimes I think we actually put the "fun" in disfunctional. Like I said, I have two sisters, two daughters and three grandaughters so I feel I have a refreshing perspective on womens issues.
I retired from Sears in 2005 after 35 years. I have a creative flair and worked my way up thru the chairs in Visual Merchandising. [Display] In 1993 Sears decided my talents would serve them better by managing new construction and remodel projects, so I traveled all over the US for the last 12 years of my career. I love to travel, but traveling for work and eating alone 4 nights a week is really sad. If you like to work on home improvement projects I would be a good friend to have. I can be as handy as a pocket on a shirt.
In the photos I helped my sister transform an ugly brick wall into a regular flat wall for her fireplace to stand out against. Everyone loves the result. She didn't believe me when I suggested what to do. She didn't think I could do it.
I'm a very compassionate person who loves to be the one who helped... In my part time retirement job I drive a bus designed for disabled or elderly to transport them to a variety of places. Elderly/Disabled day care. Dr. appointments. You name it, we drive them there... We even take them to Casinos. We have a wheelchair lifter for those folks who need it. I get to be a hero to someone for about 30 minutes. Such a feel good job.
Lastly, I believe in honesty, integrity and high morals. Even tho I'm not a devout anything, I live my life to a high "Golden Rule" standard.
